Singers don't have accents, except these guys

TS premise is shite.

Irish and Australian accents come out pretty strongly when singing. As to Jamaican and most African accents. And don't get me started on southern accents in country music.

Most of the time you can't pick up on someone's accent when they're singing.

There are tons of British invasion bands that you wouldn't know were British until you'd hear them talk in an interview.

I didn't know AC/DC was Australian for a long time.

Then you have the swedish bands like ABBA, roxette, ace of base... You'd never know where they're from just by hearing their music.

Then you have Scottish bands like Garbage and Simple Minds. No trace of a Scottish accent in their singing.

So then.... WTF happened to these guys?

Are they doing it on purpose or what? How come their accents don't get lost in the song like everyone else's?

Isn't most of ACDC actually Scottish/British and just moved to Austrailia in their teens? I think Scott was Aussie but pretty sure the
Young bros and Johnson were from either Scotland or England.

Interesting, apparently Scott was born in Scotland too but had an Australian accent because he moved when he was 6.

Angus and Malcolm were older when they got to Australia so they have Scottish accents with a bit of Aussie mixed in.

Agree accents tend to be less noticeable when someone is singing, but kind of varies by singer and the type of song. When I first heard this song, I assumed it was an American singer with some kind of speech impediment. But when I looked him up and saw where he was from, dude's accent in the song is very recognizable as Scottish.

Brian Johnson is a Geordie, he has a pretty strong speaking accent it sounds much closer to Scots, Welsh, Manx, Cornish, and Irish accents in many ways than most English accents as it's less changed from old Celtic accents than most places in England.

I kinda recently watched the Milli Vanilli documentary on Paramount+ and the dudes could barely speak English, but "sang" sounding like Americans.

Ozzy tries his best to sound like an American blues singer, but you can always hear the Birmingham coming through.

lol you think these guys can sing ? It’s an acquired taste at best.

Dolores O'Riordan had a very noticeable accent.
Most British bands are easilly recogniseable.
Bands from non-English speaking countries usually sound without accent because British or American English is taught in schools and having a musical hearing helps to get the sound right.
However, not always works - Rammstein sounds very funny in English, for example.

Also, now there are a lot of "singers" like Halsey who try their best to sound like they got not only an accent, but a speech impediment.
