Since Aldo vs McGregor, the taller fighter is 33-9 over the shorter fighter. Let that sink in

The shorter fighter wins less than a quarter of the time. I went through the UFC events page on wikipedia and simply tallied up wins and losses when there's a list height difference of 2 inches or more, excluding WMMA and if no heights were listed for both fighters

If you want a consistent winning betting strategy, bet on the taller fighter. Especially when they are underdogs

There's only been 42 fights since Aldo/McGregor?

Not so much about height as it is about reach advantage I would imagine.
People don't seem to appreciate that so much nowadays, but it's a factor. Not the be all end all, but definitely a factor.

That's interesting. I wonder how those same wins and losses correlate to weight.

Post from your real account. LOL at how Conor fans are coping. Stages of grief..

A little man has to be so much better than the taller fighter to win a bout. Just putting things in perspective

Do the stats for fights during 2015 or even a bit farther back to get a bigger sample. Would be interesting to see if those numbers confirm and align with your above post.

Yeah I am interested in the answer as well.

It looked like every bigger fighter won last night besides Hunt vs Mir

Demetrius Johnson losing try to Cruz says alot too.

Cain, Cormier, Romero, RDA, Frankie, Mighty Mouse, Cupcake, etc. are special fighters. Not really a fan of Cain and Romero out of those but they are all major badasses.

And Hendricks too, he just lost to Wonderboy but what a badass run against taller guys before then.

This thread revives my sadness for Rin, if only she could've...

It's ebbs and flows I think. At the moment, the lankier guys are starting to make efficient use of their reach. This will cause the shorter guys to adopt new ways to penetrate that distance safely. They'll need more head movement, body shots etc.

Forever supporting REAL fighters: BJ Penn, Diaz Bros, Conor McGregor

I think it will only become more advantageous as MMA become more sophisticated, there's a reason why boxing weight divisions are so narrow because height advantage is hard to overcome.
