Simon finished his opponent ~120% into their scheduled bout time, MM finished his fight ~99% into their scheduled bout time.

By that logic there are some dudes in the old school ufc fights with like 40 minute subs.

Do you have an example of what you're talking about? I know fights went over the 25 minute mark back in the day like Royce/Shamrock II and Royce/Sakuraba but neither of those ended in a stoppage. Well I guess Royce's corner threw in the towel but I mean either sub or (T)KO.
