But do he? MW ain't like WW with a killer row of wrestlers. Did Izzy get a decade of training for TDs? How many decades did the black beast have at TDD? Also with a decade of TDD, Marcus can still fight for the belt at 45 like old man Hendo who wasn't even a top 10 guy. Guess Alex Pereira won't win the MW belt for another 9 or so years with that logic.

Everyone is well rounded at MW. Pereira lost that first round to a so-so grappler and got subbed in the regional scene. He will struggle unless UFC matches him up just right.

You mean Pereira lost 1 round? OMG, stop the presses! So you saying when Izzy was only doing kickboxing, he was still training TDD for years? LOL I'm sure while training for stand up only fights, Izzy just had to put in 50% of the time for TDD.

I have more faith in Pereyra tho. He has a great team and I think he can adjust easier. In his last fight he got the old wall and stall treatment but was able to keep it standing for the most part.

Marcus? IDK how long he has been training MMA but he hasn't fought in kickboxing in more than 3 years.

Crocop was stuffing takedowns pretty well much faster than that including Mark Coleman.

I think you significantly overestimate how difficult takedown defence is to devolp in MMA, it maybe depends on the fighters style and abilties a lot but the idea it needs a decade has little basis in reality IMHO, if a fighter cross trains for 3-4 years and still doesnt have good TD defence chances are they never will.

Marcus does seem like he's liike he maybe too late to make an impact though I'd agree, its not just age but like Saki he is very shop worn, he's an old 35. Sometimes guys like Reem don't have an issue with that but he's had a serious career going back almost 15 years, I'm guessing he maybe has a pretty short widow for MMA.
