Hendo just had the perfect swan song; a storybook ending with his family in attendance and the Californian crowd cheering for him.
Now you want him to fight one of the best middleweights on earth and risk throwing all that away? And yes, that's a real risk. Sure, he flatlined Bisping at UFC 100, but today, he's much slower than Bisping is, and his chin isn't what it used to be. Bisping could very easily stop him, and then his retirement would follow an ugly loss rather than a massive win.
I love Hendo, but really, he has a pretty clear choice at this stage: retire on a huge win in front of thousands of adoring fans (like Mark Munoz did in the Philippines), or keep trundling on and leave the door open to all kinds of drama and disaster (like Wanderlei Silva and Randy Couture did). Imagine if Wandy had just hung 'em up after KOing Stann in Japan? All the drama with the UFC could have been avoided. Imagine if Randy called it quits instead of fighting a prime Machida? He'd have gone out on a three-fight win-streak instead of an emphatic KO loss.
Hendo needs to hang 'em up while things are going well.
