Shouldn't Lesnar officially state he's returning to MMA now to start the clock on his suspension?

Doesn't Lesnar have like a 6 month suspension he needs to deal with before he can fight again? If so, shouldn't he officially state that he's returning to MMA now so that he can start the clock on his suspension if he plans on returning to fight in the UFC for the third time?

6 months is about perfect for him to get back into MMA shape, get whatever is in his system from the WWE out, and I'd expect he could fight in around 9 months, maybe the UFC NYE card?

I for one am excited for a Brock return. He always put on exciting fights, excepted all challengers unlike so many UFC fighters these days, and win or lose brought it.

Well yeah, but he doesn't need to voice that... he just needs to do it. Once he enters the USADA testing pool, his time clock on his suspension starts ticking. Interestingly, it's just a little more than the time he has for the mandentory 6 month USADA testing pool for someone who's retired to come back in. So why say anything about the suspension if he has to be a part of the testing pool for 6 months anyway.

here's a fairly recent and comprehensive article about the state of things. but TLDR here's a cut to the chase:

Lesnar faces potential sanctions from both Nevada and USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency), who oversees the UFC’s drug testing program. Lesnar’s attorney Brian Stegeman has been contacted and will work with Nevada to set a date for the hearing where they will be able to present his defense in the matter.

The date for Lesnar’s next hearing will be determined soon as Nevada typically holds monthly commission meetings to handle these kinds of matters.

Nope. Another exemption is merited.

He looks flabby in WWE, must be off the juice and ready to join the testing pool.

Eh ?

He was suspended. Time doesn’t just stop. He was banned for a certain time frame. He doesn’t have to sit in the corner unemployed during that time period.

Maybe go on a 12 week cleanse and make sure all the supplements are out of his system before jumping back into USADA testing

You can't exempt a suspension period.

What he got for UFC 200 was just any normal thing that all fighters on short notice get so they can compete... if someone is injured and you replace him on 2 weeks notice with a fighter new to the UFC he gets the same exemption like Brock did... but Brock is a superstar and then popped so this got played into the ground over and over.

I was under the impression his MMA suspension doesn’t actually start until he returns.

Thus, he can’t go to the WWE for 6 months and then come back to the UFC and say, “There, suspension done, time to fight again.”

This is why people kept posting pictures of his WWE shows telling us he is getting flabby and all that maybe that was the plan all along.

Doesn't an MMA suspension mean you cannot return to MMA for a certain period of time?

i'm not an expert, but here is an article which explains why what you just said is false:

Lesnar’s one-year doping suspension is frozen until he does re-enter the pool. If he ever returns to the pool, via a written notice to the UFC and USADA saying he is out of retirement, Lesnar would still have more than six months remaining on his suspension, Novitzky said. So even if he re-entered the pool this week, Lesnar would not be able to fight again until 2018. Lesnar formally retired from the UFC and left the testing pool over the winter.

“If he ever re-entered the program, he’d have to serve [the duration of the suspension] before he’d be able to compete,” Novitzky said.

between USADA suspensions and state AC suspensions, who the fuck knows what's what. but for certain and regardless of everything else, at minimum he would need to join USADA's testing program for 6 months prior to fighting. and it's not something that UFC can ask USADA to skip this time, since he's already fought under USADA (last time they could ask USADA to skip the 6 months since he had been a fighter prior to USADA).

He has to job to Roman Reigns this Sunday at Wrestlemania.

He's not the best but he's one hell of a spectacle to watch. Who wouldn't tune in?

He doesnt have to unemployed but he has to be in the testing pool, as soon as he stops getting tested, the suspension is paused
