Should the UFC use Tournaments to create new contenders

Yes. It will have some fuck-ups like injuries etc, but it is way more entertaining.

But they won't though since it prevents them from making certain money fights. It is what it is.

USADA = No tournaments.
Also if you cant have guys fight more than once a night in the finals,the drama isnt there at all,might as well not do it.

In a tournament a fighter can fight 3 times in a year. Example fedor fought mir will fight chael and then will fight the winner of mitrione bader

It's a more exciting model and it makes sure fighters deserve title shots.

1. No change will be made in a format.
2. UFC doesn't give two $#its about what fans think about deserved/undeserved title shots.

/thread.

Yeah,that sucks.
I come from the old UFC and Final Conflict style tourneys. High Drama for yo mama.

Would like to see something different than the ranking system.

As much as I loved the Pride tournaments I don't think the model would be so good for finding new talent but for promoting contenders they already found it could be entertaining. Don't think any athletic commission would go for it though.

They could use the ranking system to organise tournaments. For example. Every year everyone in the top 8 gets a tournament and people fight to get into the top 8

They already do. Its called TUF. If they did it for top 10 contenders, the wussified fighters of the modern era would never agree to participate. They are too used to picking and ducking based on match up styles. Could you imagine the UFC telling Conor, for example, to fight in a tournament where he might end up fighting any one x number of wrestlers involved? He would take his ball and go home.
