Since the rematch at 200 seems to be happening. What's fair in your opinion? Should Conor have to vacate the belt instead of holding up the division? I mean they stripped Cruz because of injuries, they stripped Jones because he's a bad motherfucker, and they threatened to strip Silva and Aldo if they wanted to move up and fight for the belt. Without all the bs comments--although those are funny--what's your unbiased opinion as a fight fan on this situation?

Defended by, or at 200, or vacated.

He's not fighting in his respective weight class, soon to be twice; yeah he needs to drop that belt and make himself a custom intercontinental championship belt.

Conor won the belt 3 months ago.

Very true, but it is looking like he wont be returning to 145. They should at least try and confirm if he intends to return, if he doesn't strip him of it and let Aldo and Frankie duke it out.

IMHO considering the breaks some Champs have gotten
Everyone has 365 days to defend It fair and square

So no

It is beyond ridiculous at this point if he has 2 fights at different weight class and hasnt even had a single title defense.

Probably yes. I'm not even sure if he plans to go back to FW especially if Frankie is around waiting next.

If he hasn't defended it by December, then they should strip him. He will defend it after Nate takes him out again and that will be that.

How the UFC gonna strip him when they the ones creating the very situation by bending and twisting to Conor's every want and whim. UFC 200 should be the stage where McGregor defends his belt not rebuild his kicked ego because Nate bitch slapped & choked his ass like a 20.00$ crack ho....

Yeah fine. Whatever. Take his title, make an interim title. Gauranteed , every fight at the top of that division will be sold by referencing McGregor whether he's there or not.

And if he drops the belt, he'll get an immediate title shot if he wants to come back.

What difference does it actually make what they do with the featherweight title?

Why is it Conor's whim? You think the UFC doesn't want a rematch of a 1.5 million buy PPV at their biggest event?

UFC 132: Cruz vs Faber did 320k PPV buys
UFC 196: McGregor vs Diaz did 1.5m PPV buys

Work it out.

Also, Cruz wasn't stripped of the title until 27 MONTHS after his last title fight.

Its the UFC who are booking him in non Title fights...you lot do realise that right?

Correction, they stripped Jonathan because he behaved like a complete moron. Nothing badass about anything he did leading up to him getting stripped.

What difference does it make? lol What difference does it make who wins the NCAA tournament, or what difference does it make who wins the superbowl right? C'mon man isn't that the whole point of the SPORT? Yes I know it's a business but they sure do disguise themselves as a sport, so...

Werdum defends 1 per year.

Cain around the same, pulled out of events multiple times.

Aldo in his long reign was defending around once per year as well, pulled out of events multiple times.

Bones, defended more often but refused to fight a 1 week notice MW Sonnen scraping the entire event, even though there was almost no way Sonnen could win that fight except for a broken toe.
(Conor never pulled out and accepted dangerous short notice guys with totally different styles than the original opponent)

So no, as long as he defends this year he should not be stripped. Plus, exception of Frankie, he cleared out all the contenders.
