Should the UFC change their octagon floor to something softer?

They should make the mat trampoline like where they bounce around the octagon.

A softer floor could increase the amount of possible foot injuries (ankle sprains and toe injuries

I haven't been inside an actual octagon but if it's anything like a wrestling mat or a boxing ring, then it is too hard for mma.

Check out Bisping's heel, it's half sunk into the mat.
Ya they are surprisingly squishy and springy. Almost too much as it is.
But you feel like you have supreme reflexes bouncing around on it haha.

I think a trampoline with a little more tension is something viable that we can use. But I think the sand idea is better.

Couldn't they have a really tight trampoline with a quarter inch of sand in it? Or the rubberized gravel from corporate running trails?

They already softened it. It's why you don't see shit like Tito/Tanner and Shamrock/Zinoviev anymore.

Snakes
Snakes are soft
Pit full of snakes as a fighting surface
Youre welcome

fighting in 6" of water would soften a lot of the blow of landing on the mat ... as well as chokes, there could be drowning too..

Nah, do the opposite. Put in lamp posts, concrete curbs, and a bike rack. Make it like an actual street fight. The door to the octagon should be a plate glass window. Put a plywood sheet 6 inches behind it so that people don't actually fall out though.

The women should fight in jello, mud or oil.

The guys, whatever. I don't care.

Should change it to a fucking trampoline so we can get some sweet moves like in street fighter.

Fuck ya! Ps do you actually know what the octagon is made out of?

I have had the chance to bounce around in the octagon before and it's surprisingly super soft. Not sure they would really need to make it softer.

I've wondered what exactly was under the canvas. I doubt it's just plywood.

Also, there's a diff betw walking on padded carpet vs. non-padded carpet. Maybe even a thin layer of padding would reduce injuries where fighters were out of the rotation for too long and we get even more watered down cards.
