So, should the referee be also the judge?!

Arguments:
- usually, the refee knows his MMA stuff more than the Cecil Peoples or Adalaide Byrd
- many judges only have a boxing background and don't know shit about wrestling/bjj
- he is very close to the fighters and this matters: he can see when a fighter is really rocked/tagged
- the referee can't sleep or text like Adalaide Byrd
- Mike Beltran can kill 10 judges with only using his stache
- Dana can bribe the referee faster

Inb4 "they should fight to the death"

Get a life their job is already one of the hardest jobs ever with a little mistake somebody can die and you say they also judge the fight

Make each decision a draw so people go all in on each fight :p

The Ref and two judges used to score fights in boxing. I believe this stopped in the 70s maybe 80s
Ali Fraizer I was scored this way.

I think it was probably changed because the ref had enough to worry about without scoring but I can't recall the exact reason.

Well they probably know better then anyone who won, without taking note of every strike landed they can tell who actually won usually.

No.

I wouldn't mind them hiring fighters or refs as the judges instead of who we have currently.

I think he should have an equal say, like a 4th judge.

Or that.
Good idea!
Hard to choose fighters since many of them sparred together or know each other, though!

There's a reason that scorecards are kept in writing - I wouldn't trust the ref to be 100% vigilant of the actions of the fighters and memorise the details and the flow of the match at the same time.

there should be 2 judges and if they cant make a decision have an extra round

The refs we have can barely do the job they have now. You don’t want to give them more power. I say use an open scoring system like k1 did and introduce yellow cards so the fighter that knows he’s winning can’t cruise in the final round

Well, they've already tried this in British boxing, and I've always found it hard to believe that they could do such a stupid thing. It's obviously a fucking horrible idea for all sorts of reasons, not in the least the safety for the fighters. The ref has a very important job and has enough on his plate already. Having 3-5 judges scoring the bout ringside isn't a perfect solution either, but it sure is a much preferable one.
