Should OSU be in the college playoffs?

LSU got in because of all the crazy stuff that happened that final weekend of the season.

#1 Missouri: lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game for their second loss
#2 West Virginia: lost to 3-8 Pittsburgh for their second loss
#3 Ohio State: idle
#4 Georgia: idle
#5 Kansas: idle
#6 Virginia Tech: beat Boston College to win the ACC
#7 LSU: beat Tennessee to win the SEC

OSU jumped to #1 because of only having 1 loss and LSU jumped to #2 because they killled VT earlier in the season and had a better resume than both UG and UK.
Anyhoo, that was under the old system and is irrelevant. The bottom line is OSU is in. 3 top 10 wins (2 on the road) and their loss was @ another top 10 school who was coming off a bye week by 3 or 4 points.
Oh yeah now I remember how it went down. Fuckin WV lost to an awful Pitt team and somehow Michigan still thought highly enough of Rich Rod to bring him in. This was also the year when Oregon had that great dual threat QB and they were ranked in the top 5. He then proceeded to break his leg in horrifying fashion and Oregon lost all their remaining games. Edit: his name was Dennis Dixon.

Absolutely not. The committee should stick to their criteria of conference championships and be done with it. Solution to the OSU issue: don't lose games you're suppose to win. You lost and now you're shutout of your own conference's championship game. There are only four spots that will go to more deserving teams who win their conference championships so tough shit, deal with it and earn your way back next season.

That's why there should be a field of 6-8 teams. It's a perfect amount of teams to decide the national championship. It's not that fucking hard but this is division I (fbs) football we're talking about here. They still are 40 years behind FCS and other college sports when it comes to playoff formats.
This is the correct answer. Eight-team playoff would solve situations such as these. In the absence of that, you essentially have to go with conference champions. Nobody really knows how good anybody is until top teams from different divisions play each other.

if we are being honest it should be Alabama, Ohio St, Michigan and the winner of Wis/PSU in the playoffs

in the future i would like it to go to eight with the top 5 power conference champs, 1 (or 2) non power five teams, and a wild card or 2 in the playoff.

Teams are going to stop scheduling any tough out of conference opponents, if it is completely pointless.

This isn't true at all though. One of the main reasons Ohio State's resume is so strong is because they went on the road and beat Oklahoma by 21 points. Same thing with Michigan and their win over Colorado.
There's also big money involved in neutral site games. We're getting over $6.5 million to play Michigan next year in Dallas.

Personally I would have OSU in as well as whoever wins the big ten championship. I would drop Washington. But I think its an uncomfortable decision.

My point was that, if it is all about winning your conference, Ohio St should re-schedule a game with Southwestern Bumfuck community college instead of Oklahoma next year and save it all for your conference.

I think OSU gets in this year anyways.

OSU lost their division to Penn State and lost to Penn State in the regular season. OSU is 11-1 and Penn State is 10-2. In conference both are 8-1. Wisconsin plays Penn State in the big 10 championship next weekend while OSU sits out. If Penn State beats Wisconsin I feel like theres no question Penn State should be in and OSU should be ineligible.

Anyone else agree that you should have to win your conference to be eligible for the college playoffs? It seems like utter bullshit because the media is all up in arms about OSU making it despite losing their conference (and even lost their division.)
The problem is that Michigan is also 10-2 and annihilated Penn State along the way. In their "rebound" game at home after that loss they went to OT against Minnesota. It's hard to argue they are one of the top 4 teams in the country.

so.. osu ended up 3 and psu 5 even though psu beat osu and won their conference

ridiculous. if i was a psu fan id be super pissed.

They should've thought about that before spending decades covering up child rape.
