Should O'Malley study the Merab/Aldo fight tape?

Merab struggled taking Aldo down during the entire fight, and ended up wall n stalling for 3 rounds to a decision.
Would O'Malley benefit from studying Aldo's takedown defense?

I mean not everyone can have Aldo tier TDD. Aldo couldn't get much offense off with this game either

I guess. But their TDD is different. Sean's is lateral movement and footwork. Aldo has phenomenal TDD and cage work but he didn't use lateral movement at all to deter Merab from even thinking about taking the shot because that's just not how he fights.

Aldo has GOAT level takedown defense, Sean...not so much.

Im sure he's studying that fight, but watching Aldo be great at something is not going to instill those skills onto Sean over a single camp sir.

That's where Sean is most dangerous actually, when someone is entering, or on the break.

They’re studying all of his takedown downs, set ups, and transitions

The lesson Sean should take from the Merab v Aldo and Yan fights is that he can't sit back and look to just counter. If he let's Merab have the initiate he'll keep it for the whole fight.

Obviously they're studying all tape... but more to the point is whether O'Malley can incorporate lessons from Aldo's technique into his game.

TDD for teh striker, has obviously been a lifetime focus... so there's only so much you can change in a camp or 2... & Aldo's a master at what he does.

It's going to be whether or not coat stealer can get in close enough & keep him smothered.

Any time there's space between the 2 is a prime opportunity for lights out to get his coat back.

I'm not even convinced Merab beat Aldo either, I just don't see how you can win by landing virtually zero strikes and getting no takedowns, the fight was awful and horrible.. but really not sure Aldo lost

To be fair Aldo could be 5-0 in his last 5 fights and getting the title shot, against all top 10 contenders he beat as well, the only guy who wasn't in top 10 was his last fight, all the others were. Its a shame for Aldo because it will say 4-1 in his last 5 fight but I really am unsure that he actually lost that fight.

Anyways it will be hard for Sean to replicate it because Aldo has lightning fast reflexes and he is so agile and his hips and reflexes are like a cat. Even though Aldo is getting old he really has a special unique talent
