Should men wear vests/wife beaters

Haha I see.. why that silly nick name for it?

and just to answer the question: Yes i wear them.

It comes from the blue collar origin of the shirt. Often seen in trailer park settings, and on episodes of cops. The implication being that guys who wear them are more likely to...

I wear them around the house, during summer. I honestly would feel like kind of a douche to wear them to the store or something.

This.

Before May and after September, it's tshirts and hoodies. During the summer, no one besides the delivery guy or my gf ever sees me in a beater.

Couldn't imagine doing yard work with out one.

It's not even really a nickname...it's the name for it (in American (and probably Canadian) English). The closest thing to it that doesn't have a sleazy name would be a tank top, but at least in my mind, they're different. A wife beater is always form fitting and made from thin material (like a thin undershirt), where a tank top is usually a little looser and of sturdier material (like a t-shirt).

if there's a less sleazy name for a wife beater, I don't know it (because as I said, I don't think tank top is a suitable term for it, since I associate a tank top with a looser garment).

I wear them to the Gym, working around the house, slothing around the house and anywhere I would wear paint splashed pants.

One ex really liked me wearing them, Current GF strongly against, many others didn't really care one way or the other.

It says "A Shirts" on the pack but NO ONE calls them that.

Maybe i am missing something but aren't they called a "singlet"?

There are so many cool tank tops out these days that when in the heat of the summer you could look cool, stay cool, get some sun and not look like you walked out of an Alabama housing project wearing your $.99 Hanes grimey ass white wife beater.

Go to any surf skater shop and they are filled with awesome tanks.. Love rocking them to the beach with a bathing suit or doing some day drinking at a pool party or something.

I like to wear them, specially just around the house. Wearing them with a shirt (button up short sleeve) over is nice too, makes a good combo.

I will often sport the wife beater/mechanic shirt combo.

In my opinion it depends the model you are wearing (tight, loose, color and so on) and definitely depends on the ocassion you are wearing it.

Dont go for whatever stupid people say, at the end of the day, you should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, people are going to criticize no matter what you do, so you shouldnt go by what "others" think, go by whatever you feel comfortable with

You are very right that women pay more attention when you have a good body and you show it, even if they would never say it or admit it, you definitely notice especially when you didnt have a good body and then through hard work and dedication you do, you can tell women notice.

I do wear tank tops but just to work out at the gym and not all the time either, but I have a couple, and they are very comfortable especially when sweating at the gym. Im 37 and happily married man, so I really am not interested in attracting women or just hang out with my buddies in the middle of the sun, if I go out is to see clients or hang out/eat with my wife, in either ocassion I would look silly wearing a tank top... but if I was younger and simply have any other type of lifestyle sure Id wear them and wouldnt see any problem with it. Peace!

Gonna have to go with this.

I wear them as undershirts, as intended. In the winter, it's an extra layer to keep warm. In the summer, it keeps me from looking like a sweaty mess if I walk outside for more than 10 minutes. In between, it's just comfortable because I'm so used to it.

People making excuses and saying they wear them for exercise: what do you think rash guards are for? (Other than stopping gi burn).
