Should Jacare vs Kelvin be a title-eliminator fight?

Weidman is 1-3 and injured, Whittaker vs Romero 3 is unlikely, Rockhold is moving up to 205 and is coming off a loss.

That only leaves the winner of this fight. Imo the UFC should be smart about it and market that fight as such, in order to point out it's significance for the division. In general there should be more official title-eliminators (and less interim-titles).

That is probably what will happen. Whittaker/Jacare 2 isn't a very interesting or marketable fight though, and I kind of feel like those will be the two winners. Not sure if there would be other options.

I didn't know Rockhold is moving to 205. That's a great move for him in my opinion.

Love the idea of official title eliminators. And yeah, Jacare/Kelvin is definitely a title eliminator. Who else is deserving of a TS?

If Jacare wins I could see them putting him against Weidman for the next title shot since the title fight is happening after this matchup. If Gastelum wins I think he's in line for a title shot despite the loss to Weidman due to the lack of options.

I mean I think I it basically is. Weidman doesn't deserve a shot, rockhold just lost, silva is out, Brunson just lost, branch only has 1 win, Belfort is retiring, Tavares is too high and so is machida right now. There's literally no one left but them

It make sense, Gastelum vs Whittaker reminds me a lots of Rockhold V Weidman, two of the best fighter in MW division in their prime fighting each other.


I think Whittaker beat both of them though, Jacare or Gastelum.
