He is injured but UFC 200 isn't until July, that's 4 months away.

If Frankie was super hurt come July, I would still go with Aldo fight over this farcical Diaz rematch.
 
UFC should have set rules about when the belt becomes undefended and people automatically lose it. Like 12 months or something.

I agree, the Diaz fight is pointless, but that is not on Conor, it's on the UFC.

Yeah, but do you honestly think if that man walked into the office and said "look I want a rematch, you know I could win that fight. It hurts my image to have that loss, let's make a super rematch at 200, and worst case scenario, if I lose I still have this belt" - do you think Dana would just go, "look kid, you're defending that fucking title, get out of my office".

Conor seems to call the shots...

Again, that's on the UFC if they're empowering him to that degree especially when he is coming off a loss.

Conor/UFC loses a lot of stock if he loses to Edgar.

If he loses to Nate again, they have the built-in excuse of weight - which is why this fight is at 170 and not 155. A loss keeps Conor's 155 options still open, and doesn't devalue his stock @ 145. It also gives him a chance to avenge his only loss in the UFC. A win-win-win for Conor and the UFC, and it's a little pathetic with all the hedging of their bets, because the promoter clearly has a horse in the race.
 
If he has been able to take fights and hasn't defended by December I would say yes. There has to come a point where it becomes clear that he has no interest in 145 or defending that title. At that point, he should surrender the belt and then be free to fighter whoever at whatever weight he wants. If he gets injured, I'd say see what the time frame is for a comeback.
 
If by stripped you mean naked then yes, he should be stripped.
 
It hasn't been half a year since he won the title yet, so no. However, I don't think we'll ever see him at FW again, so he likely should be eventually.
 
IMO yes. Only way this could work is one fight at 145 and next one fight at 155 and repeat. no exceptions.
 
Yes, he hasn't defended his title since he won it and this rematch will be his second non title defense since winning the belt.

Matt Hughes was arguably a bigger P4P success/legend when he lost to Georges St. Pierre than Jose Aldo was when Conor beat him. I didn't see GSP being launched into being one of the most famous men on earth!?

Ireland is a tiny market - it has a wide-spread across the US with NY, Boston etc. but in reality, it's a tiny country.

We cannot pass this off as the UFC "doing the right thing" because they are using Conor to draw in Ireland as a MMA fandom market. If that's the case, why is India or China not getting a huge push!? Those countries have billions of people, why not push a Chinese star? Even Russia? They have loads of Russians that they do not push at all.

This has nothing to do with the Irish market, or Conor being the key to Ireland. He transcends the Irish market, I can admit that. Being the figurehead of the Irish MMA market doesn't mean any rulebook that ever existed on how "things work" gets thrown out of the car window for him.
