Should Baseball Ban Chewing Tobacco?

Jayson Werth chews tobacco and has a smoke break in the 7th inning of every game. He also double fists beers after the games and takes 2 for the road while driving home with his kids.

BEASTMODE!!!!

I wasnt backpedaling, I'm sorry my grasp on the english language isnt up to par. No need to be snide about it.

That was low level backpedaling in any language you put it.

Do I really need a good example (about the kids) or even one to begin with? You're the one conjecturing that banning tobacco in MLB would somehow make a difference among kids using tobacco and players not dying from mouth cancer.
You don't need a good example the one you already provided was shitty enought. And yes banning it would make a difference. It doesn't take a scientist to figure that out.

You have a kid, great for you. I don't. Completely irrelevant to a discussion about tobacco in the MLB.
I already expained the reason I asked was not about MLB it was about your comment about not caring aout anybody's health because you are not their dad.

If you don't want to go in circles then thats fine. I'm just replying because I'm bored
So i guess the only way to stop going in circles is to stop feeding you posts to reply to.

and your reason for banning it is based on nothing but your own emotion regarding your own child(ren) supposed odds of getting mouth cancer due to some player chewing it. It seems pretty silly and farfetched to me.

What's silly is how in my previous posts clearly that there are a lot more reasons to ban tobacco in MLB but you want to focus on the fact that I'm a father which I hadn't mentioned until my last post.

From the city that brought you the soda ban..... ban chewing tobacco from the MLB

Tard- "We need to ban tobacco because it's bad for people's health!!"
Non Tard- "You should probably just let adults make their own decisions."

Tard- "THey probably don't even know that it's unhealthy!"
Non Tard -So tell them."

Tard- "Some of them are still doing it."
Non Tard- "yeah they like it."
Tard- "We need to raise taxe son it because we ca use the money to further educate people on it and the rise in price will stop people form doing it."
Non Tard- "You're a tard."

Tard- "Even with higher prices they're still doing it."
Non Tard- "Yeah.. they fucking like it. THey're aware of the fact that they're going to die one day just like everyone who has ever or will ever live. Knowing that they've decided that they enjoy tobacco and will continue to use it."

Tard- "There's only option left since they won't listen to reason... BAN IT FOR THEIR OWN GOOD!!!!!!"
Non Tard- "Fucking tards."

I said "I would be all for banning it" etc when I should have said "If they banned it because it's disgusting I wouldnt have cared". Thats not to say its a good reason to ban anything. Hardly backpedaling and I definately havent changed my mind.

Banning it would do what exactly? Lower what exactly? Make a difference where exactly? Conjecture is all it is. We can all guess what would happen when you ban something, but unless you got something to back it up with you're really just talking about what you hope/believe rather than anything factual, no? I think what this comes down to is that as long as ONE kid doesnt start chewing tobacco or ONE player doesnt die from mouth cancer its a good enough reason to ban it and a win in your mind. I think thats pretty thin grounds if I were to put myself in the shoes of a man with a chewing habit who played Major League ball.

A lot more reasons being what exactly? You even mentioned they should ban it in honor of Gwyns death as if though this is a good reason? Granted I'm not going to go back to look at every post because I doubt either of us are that invested but the only reasons that you seem to use was the players health and the kids.

I'm focusing on the fact that you are a father because you're obviously fueled by the idea of your kid being influenced by the players chewing tobacco. It's a bit of a flawed stance because in your head no one should do this because it might influence kids, kids like your child.

Man, if you don't want to discuss then dont discuss, no need to be so uptight about it.

I did want to discuss it and we did discuss it. Then it got boring as I stated because we were just going back and forth debating our opinions (yes opinions). That could go on forever. I'm sorry if you feel I was uptight. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.

This thread makes me want to chew for the first time in decades.

Still with the snideness huh? I guess thats what I get for trying to be even remotely civil on here (for once).

Yeah well dont. A kid might see you and ruin his mouth forever, bro.

Good summarization. It can be used as a template for pretty much anything. tobacco, drugs, alcohol, guns... same old tired arguments.

Yup and it's always the same cycle.

Back when they rallied against tobacco in the 80's and 90's people wrote satire about banning fatty foods and sugar drinks and look where we are.

Why are tobacco companies no longer allowed to sponser MLB?
Why are players no longer allowed to carry a tobacco tin or pack in their uniform at any time when fans are in the ballpark? Why are MLB players no longer allowed to chew tobacco during televised interviews or any type of MLB related appearances?

Tobacco will be completely banned from baseball soon enough and then you can all bitch and cry about it. Untill then enjoy watching MLB players ruin their health while influencing kids to do the same.

I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.

Why should they? It's legal and everyone knows the harmful side effects.
