It's pretty important and often forgotten these days. Female fashion/beauty/makeup is all about illusion. High-waisted jeans/pants/skirts is all about making the legs appear longer. Combine that with some decent sized heels, and a short crop top and you've got yourself quite the visual illusion strategy.

The ideal female proportion is a relative short torso, long legs, and short to average arm length.

Another strategy to make the legs appear longer and torso shorter is acquiring a larger ass, whether through weight-training, surgical enhancement, or both. A larger rear makes your femur look longer, and creates a tapered illusion at the pelvic region which makes the waist look higher up the torso.

But at the same time more mass to the thighs makes your legs look shorter.

Unconsciously you do, just like everyone does when they gauge how attractive someone is

If a woman has really short legs or gorilla long arms, you might not specifically identify it, but you'll find her unattractive in a general sense compared to the idealized female. Professor Jordan Peterson talks about how this plays a role the sexual social microcosm.

Don't worry, it's not as bad for men. Certainly not ideal, but it is what it is.

Short legs long torso on a male looks dominant if accompanied with long arms... AKA Silverback mode.

IMO the ideal proportions = long legs, long arms, short torso, small waist, wide clavicles

AKA the African American/Caribbean

Only downside is they usually have small ribcages which mean chest doesn't really stick out as far which can lead to a more bird-chested visual, throwing an already arm dominant physique further in the deep end

I think if I had to choose, an arm-dominant physique is always better than a torso dominant one. But the best is usually a good mix, if more arm dominant.

Brock is an awesome example of when long limbs meets a massive ribcage... Awesome balance of arm and torso dominance

That's what i mean by short legs.. Relative proportions. Long torsos and short legs are not ideal for women. It makes sense that they gear their fashion and beauty strategies to combat this. Long legs are obviously idealized.

Even still, tall people will generally still appear long-legged because 1. in absolute terms they are long in the legs and 2. volumetrically bone grows substantially more longitudinally

This is why shorter people are always visually stockier... You have ethnic groups like Pacific Islanders that have crazy thickness and stockiness, but even then they do not grow bones laterally as much as vertically
