I still see "mistakes" even now, the cheek spirals on the left side need shifting further left + too much color in the face still

It resized alright, I just blurred the edges of the templates afterwards, hack job

Can someone tell me how to get rid of the black outline around heads?

Use clone. You have to practice how hard or soft you go or how wide a stroke is best. Also whether it's on the inside or out.
