Now that he got a nice streak going on, he should very well try a drop.
Nice win against Corey but its clear that physically he cannot compete with the top dogs anymore.
at least at 185 he would be (maybe if the cut doesnt dont affect him) more evenly matched athletically against the dogs down there!

hes too slow and his movement is too labored from all the past injuries and wars. His fight IQ, gameplanning and technique seem to surprisingly be at an all-time high but I don't think he'd fare well against the faster, more explosive guys at MW

His movement is shot though. Watch the fight with Liddel where he is moving all around the octagon and looks very nimble compared to this fight with Anderson.

185 is a tougher weight class, though. He probably beats all but the top 5 at 205 even at this stage of his career, assuming he fights intelligently as he did against Nogueira and Anderson; I don't feel the same is true at middleweight. On the other hand there are some dream fights available for him at 185, but I just don't see him ever wanting to make that cut. I'm curious to see who they match him up with next.

Nah, I doubt he would want and could at this state. Shogun didn't know how to cut weight properly in Pride, Coleman & Randleman tried to properly show them the right way. I doubt to this day he has perfected it or came close.

That dudes legs are like 80lbs.

I was going to say they don't keep 8-8 fighters at 185, but CB Dollaway is 9-8, so maybe they do.

What is this crazy Sherdog obsession with over the hill fighters dropping a weight class to become studs again? Most of them can't do it and if they could, it wouldn't help. I love Shogun as much as anyone, but it's over. Accept it.

I'd rather just see Shogun in fun fights to round out his career. Would be great to see him against Anderson Silva, Shad etc.

Yea cause he will fare so much better vs Yoel, Jacare, Vitor, Weidman, Rockhold

This makes most sense. Throw Bisping, Vitor on that list

I guess Vitor should drop to ww now?

hes to lazy to cut and loves to eat.

never gonna happen.

Tough to compare current Shogun against the Shogun that fought Chuck.

I think the Shogun that fought Chuck was the best version of Shogun we've ever seen.

We'll see how he does coming up.

Sherdog has Corey ranked at number 10 and UFC has Shogun ranked at number 8.

Don't know why people are calling for retirement when he's winning.

Yea, these guys would put a hurting on him to rival what Jones did. Zero incentive. Honestly, the best option is to retire. The next 30 best options are also retire.

Shogun fan here...

Wish he'd retire with this win. Prob won't get my wish. :(

Hes losing to people he has no business losing to. His knees were shot like 6 years ago, maybe more. His jaw getting more faded with every fight too. He can still win but he can also get ktfo by people he would have buzzsawed in his prime. Whats the point.
