I'm sure this has been said over and over, but in order to win and become the #1 contender, the Mauricio Rua that came out against Brandon Vera needs to be put under wraps and SHOGUN needs to come back! I want the shogun who went to war with Dan Henderson, even though he lost that fight, someone like Gustaffson has no chance against him! I recognize that gus is a fantastic up and comer and has had some great wins so far, but the real shogun can put a whoopin on him. I know everyone said he "struggled" against Vera, but if you re watch that fight, you can plainly tell shogun was bored and he decided to finally put vera out of his misery! IF shogun shows up, he will get his title shot!

Yeah we can't have slow starter Shogun or gassed Shogun. He doesn't even need to come in for the kill, as long as he is well conditioned and uses his strikes he can decision Gus.

Well if he didn't he'd probably lose his job or something

dont worry that shogun will show up ill let u know why
i am making a thread about it right now

Even if healthy Shogun shows up, gus will still beat him. I'm not worried.

This is why they need two betting lines, one for Shogun who will obviously win and one for shogun who probably won't.

Shogun needs to be at 100% in order to win, Gus is no joke, but if he's on his game I truly believe shogun can smash him

Shogun showed up against Jones.

He just got kneed in the face.

Shogun showed up against Vera, he's just not that good anymore.

Shogun wasn't on top of his game against Jones, everyone knows it, I'm not making excuses for him, i'm just saying he was lazy because Jones was a short notice fight, and no one really had any idea what to expect from him, I think it will be more of a war the second time around.

And what is it with people thinking Gustaffson is the answer to Jones, same with Glover. These guys have demonstrated absolutely NOTHING that says to me they can even hang with jones! OOOH glover destroyed his opponents (who were nobodys) and gustaffson hasn't beat really anyone who ever had a shot at Jones. So where do you guys see that they are viable contenders?

Shogun that fought Vera and Shogun that fought Hendo was no different. Only difference was Hendo was a tougher opponent. That said, what makes you think there is two different Shoguns?

Why any shogun fan would want to watch a rematch with jones is beyond me. It's just a terrible matchup.

Jones has literally no fear of shogun anywhere. It would look pretty much the same as the first one.

Because if he's motivated he's WAY more dangerous, Shogun stood toe to toe with hendo, the last guy that everyone here said "WOULD DESTROY JONES" and if he would warmed up faster shogun could have won. There is a HUGE difference in the two fights because of motivation. Same goes with BJ Penn, gilbert melendez, and others who's fights are drastically more boring when they don't care who they are fighting.

Shogun had injuries and barely trained for the Dan Hendo fight as well.
