Shogun DID! get knocked down with a JAB VLADY style(Round 1)

For the people saying the opening jab didn't hit, it slipped in. I still can't tell if the third punch actually lands or not however.

Doctored image. Shogun getting hit through his impregnable guard and actually FALLING? Yeahhhh uhm NO. Obvious slip is obvious. Why should it be classed a knockdown?

So if Alexander pushed Shogun and he fell that would be a knockdown also?

According to Chute Boxe Hero, yes. I'm not saying that jab was important or anything, its just quite a few people were saying it wasn't landing and I noticed it did.

Don't try and put words in my mouth. He was punched BEFORE HE THREW THE KICK, as this shows. The clip also shows it but on several reviews it was hard to tell if it was just a feint or that he actually committed to the punch and landed it. He clearly landed the first lead left jab here to Shogun's chin. Shogun tries to throw a leg kick a split second after eating this jab and suddenly he's "off balance". I wonder why? After Alex slips this jab in he cuts an angle to the side, throws a punch, then a 3rd as Shogun is already starting to fall. You don't just fall down if you miss a kick, especially a leg kick thrown with extremely little power and no real hip turn over. You also don't go flying back either. It's physics that prove it's a knockdown. The UFC may not have scored it a knockdown but everybody else did (the cage-side judges, Sherdog's own team, and FOX Sports including Brian Stann and co).

Being shoved/pushed is a different story since this did not happen. Shogun was connected on and fell down. Maybe it's his fault for throwing that leg kick after he ate that jab? It doesn't matter, it was timed perfectly and already had landed before he even had thrown the kick. If this was an actual slip (with high probability going for it) then I'd be honest and call it like I see it. The only people calling it a slip are Shogun nut huggers that are also saying that NONE of Gustafsson's punches landed during this particular event.

No one cares when on the internet. Man I bet you correct girls that text or message you too. That's not gonna get you out your moms basement virgin.

Why would girls text or message me if I'm such a loser and I live in my mom's basement, being a virgin at that? :icon_lol: THINK before you type plz. FFS.

What's with you fuckers and hating on jabs.
You can put a lot of power in a jab.

With 4oz gloves you can drop anyone with anything with good technique.

I dont understand why MMA dont understand this

So ur telling me virgins cannot receive a txt smh.....and they txt you to ask about hw lmfao

Shogun rushes in, Alex reacts immediately and makes Shogun eat a jab (which hits square on), in the same motion he throws a kick that fails due to him getting countered, he loses his balance and falls to the ground.

The only strike that landed was the jab which makes Shogun fail the kick and lose his balance. It was a very slick counter, whether it falls under the "knockdown"-category I do not know.

Just watched in really slow slowmo :p

You don't even know what you're agreeing with. LOL. What about the OTHER punches? The one looked like it landed to the side after he angled away (after that jab landed). Shogun was AFFECTED by Gustafsson's punch(es) and fell down while trying to fire a kick. He was off balance because he was surprised by the shot in the first place. That's what you call a high probability conclusion. Shogun was knocked down because Gus punched him and a second later he was flying backwards and on his back. Gus thus gets full credit for his knockdown.

/The End

I'm really not going to argue whether either one of them dropped the other. And bottom line is even if shogun was dropped by a jab it's not the first time he's been dropped but that's not his claim to fame. The man always gets right back up and can take one hell of a punch.

The problem I have with that is that he knows it and now instead of a muay Thai specialist he just a 205 Garcia. It's a shame but I will still route for him against anyone not named Anderson Silva

Nobody is saying that Shogun being knocked down means he has a weak chin. At least nobody with a brain. If getting knocked down meant a fighter has a weak chin then Hendo would have a weak chin too. That's clearly not the case and not how it works.

My official take on it (this takes place over the course of 1 second):

Shogun rushes in
Gus throws a jab
Shogun sees the jab and tries to cover up
Gus' jab hits square on
Shogun switches to a sloppy lowkick, misses and falls

Anyone knows the official definition of a knockdown? I'm not sure myself.
Really slick counter anyhow.

Nobody ? Please read the title of the thread you're on and even see that there a capitals on DID get knocked down.

Oh wait you said no-one with a brain... nvm

I have no idea what that gif is trying to show, it ends way too early.

The funny angle makes Rua look shooped in.

What an awful back and forth in this thread.
