RBR Shields vs Perkins Feb.2nd DAZN

Not only is she the undisputed GOAT, it's going to be decades before another female boxer will have an argument based on accomplishments.

She's the "GWOAT" dude. Get it right. No, it won't take decades for another female boxer to match Shields' accomplishments. I believe she's a 5 division champ, just became undisputed in 3 of them, but Katie Taylor is already a 2 division undisputed champion. Amanda Serrano is a 7 division champ and was also undisputed in 1 of them.

Fun Facts

The women's heavyweight division currently has only 17 active boxers total. To some extent that's to be expected. Not too many fit women get that heavy and there are very few female pro boxers in the first place. Some of the lower women's divisions however, like featherweight, have over 200 active boxers which is comparable to men's strawweight. The men's heavyweight division currently has 1,541 active fighters. Some men's divisions have over 2,500 active fighters which is slightly more than all of women's boxing's active fighters combined. 😂

*Active meaning they've fought within the last 12 months

Katie Taylor or Amanda Serrano have a better claim to be the greatest women's boxer than Shields does.
If you have to yell and holler about how great you are, maybe you're not all that great. And now people are gonna compare what she just did to Usyk because she was fighting at HW. As if they're even comparable outside of both fighting at HW.
It's all such a circus. And Shields was fighting in her hometown apparently. Could've fooled me because that arena was pretty empty.

Like clockwork. talkSPORT really ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Claressa Shields surpasses Oleksandr Usyk, Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue with record-breaking win

I'll add that any attempts to compare men & women's boxing should be dismissed outright. The media is only running with them to get clicks. Here are the total numbers just in case some of you guys are curious. There are currently 26,689 men actively competing in the pros. On the other side there are only 2,389 women that are active right now. That's 11× as many men fighting today.

Typically when we say that something is an ‘order of magnitude’ more, often it's just hyperbole, but in this case it's actually over an order of magnitude more. The depth of their respective talent pools couldn't be more different.

Clickbait gonna clickbait.

I agree though, women's boxing and men's boxing are extremely different. There are barely any women active in some divisions. The 15th ranked women's HW is 0-1.

Of course you'll have some people calling you a woman hating incel for pointing out these simple facts. But articles like this will inflate Shields' already oversized ego. She's just a very unlikeable person, which is part of why she never really took off and got more famous.

If you're familiar with OfficeHanchoBoxing, he does a series called "Fumbling The Bag" where he talks about boxers who messed up huge lucrative opportunities. He does one entry on Shields and for me it really sums up why she's not more known.

It's a shame because considering she was the first US boxer to ever get two Gold medals in the Olympics, she should've been a darling and an easy draw. Instead she's fighting for vacant belts against boxers with less than 10 professional fights and calling herself the GWOAT to empty arenas.

Yep it's clickbait. Like I said previously there are only 17 active female heavyweight boxers in the pros right now. Total. That's not even enough to fill out a Top 20 rankings list. You know how many active female cruiserweights there are? Two lol. Shields is definitely unlikeable. Her ego is the size of a small planet. Remember when that random dude dropped her in sparring? She went to grab a knife to stab the guy.

Yeah that knife incident was 100% psycho. I don't even know if she got any sort of reprimand for that. If she didn't that's ridiculous. You can't just threaten to stab a guy because he dropped you in sparring.

Watch her go for undisputed at Cruiserweight next then she will be 4x undisputed and the best ever

Oh and here's that video I was talking about. Shields is the first entry.

I hope she does go to cruiserweight. Then the division will have 3 women in it instead of 2. She'll be able to say she cleaned out the entire division in just a couple fights. LOL
