Pretty simple: What are your favorite events in MMA history? Could be UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, PRIDE, Pancrase, Shark Fights... whatever. I've been re-watching a lot of old cards in full on Fight Pass lately, so I'm kind of looking for viewing material for myself in addition to just being curious which events are held in the highest regard by Sherbros.

Personally I'll always have a soft spot for PRIDE's 2000 Grand Prix Opening Round. So much talent/so many legends on display, a huge crowd of 48,000 packing the Tokyo Dome, Quadros and Bas on commentary, some good fights... really a landmark event.

WEC 53 was a special card too. I was a huge WEC fan so it was bittersweet since it was the last show they ever put on, but it was also a kick-ass card headlined by the epic Bendo/Pettis fight.

What do you guys think?

Pride 2005 middleweight grand prix and the 2006 open weight grand prix. Vintage shogun and crop cop at there best, and many other great fights to bout.

UFC 129 and 189 right off the top of my head. There is quite a few more but didn't want to take to long to think about it.

I don't remember the specific number off the top of my head but the main was Cruz vs Faber.

Also had Leben KTFOing Silva, and Tito going throwback on Bader. I watched that card so many times on my old DVR. Absolutely loved it.

A surprisingly good event was Pride 6, especially Daijiro Matsui vs Carlos Newton. Vovchanchyn is also on there which is a plus.

Remember getting a VHS of UFC 2 and thinking 'what the fuck is this?' - purely for the impact it had on me it has to be this....

That was 132. I lost my shit when Tito beat Bader, plus it also had Condit wrecking Stun Gun with a flying knee.

All good choices. Bushido 9 was a favorite of mine as well. People talk about the 2000 Grand Prix and the '05 and '06 Middleweight and Openweight ones but the Welterweight and Lightweight GPs don't get a lot of love. All fun tournaments.

At the end of the day it's hard to deny Final Conflict 2003:

Mirko vs Nog
Wanderlei vs. Yoshida
Wanderlei vs. Rampage
Sakuraba vs. Randleman
Chuck vs. Rampage
Henderson vs. Bustamante

Shockwave 2004 and 2006 are up there on paper, and Bushido 7 and 9 are every bit as good fight-wise.

Hell yeah, 132! I just looked that up after you posted it. What a card!

It was strange but I worked overnights back then and I would buy a pay-per-view and DVR it, then turn my phone off while I was at work so I wouldn't get any spoilers. When I got out at 6am, I'd go home and watch it with my girl like it was live. I totally went HAM when Tito choked out Bader and woke my neighbors and everything!

I really miss being that excited over a fight.

The first UFC fight for the Troops was the free card of a lifetime. Not a dull moment in that event.

UFC 193. The event that united the site. And the world. No can compare.
