Sherdog POTWR: Round 2: The Debate

Status
Not open for further replies.
Sure, but only for voting.

Is @sodapopinski a choice?

Soda declined to run this year. The remaining candidates are listed in the OP.

I posted above asking people to not be trigger happy with the tag list. I can't promise you won't ever be tagged again but I'll try to make them more mindful about it. Round 2 kinda encourages the idea of tagging a lot though.

@Palis If I were to give you my vote and you became WR president how can you assure me you're not going to go back to the Sports bar talking a bunch if shit about how you took over the war room?

@JDragon You say you want to make the war room a better place...but how can we trust your judgement given your political support in the real world?

@Overpressure I think we can all agree that we can't have a WR president who puts 3/4s the forum on ignore. Will you pledge here and now that should you become president you will immediately unignore the multitudes of posters you have silenced over the past year? And will you pledge not to ignore any poster during your tenure?

@panamaican What should we expect from your administration besides unbridled arrogance and sjw tendencies?

@Lead Do we have some sort of impeachment recourse should our new president over step his bounds?

I was thinking about this at one point and don't believe there would be other than if they were banned which would just leave the term empty. It's only a 10 month term so impeachment would be over the top. I would just advise people to vote wisely.

You have my word TCK. Not only that you can see through my post history that I've spent a considerable amount more time in the WR than the SB the last few months. I've always had a good balance but lately a lot more time here by a tremendous amount. Like Trump, I will be gracious, humble and stoic in victory.

I think my response to irish thug sums it up:

The thing is, consider the following.

A big problem in the political discourse today is that we're all living in filter bubbles: regarding the information we consume and regarding the political discussions that we have. Think about it. Facebook is only going to show you the news you want to see. People unfriend each other on Facebook over political issues, and even if you're not one of them, you still may end up in homogenous circles. Discussing politics with friends usually either is a bad idea or pointless if they have the same opinion anyway. Same with family: you likely have a wide range of political opinions there, but arguing politics with family can be a horrible idea. Arguing politics at parties? Bad idea.

But if there is no discussion, no direct interaction between the two (or many) opposing sides, how can there be actual political discourse? How can we understand each other? How can we learn where others may have a point and how can we sharpen our own arguments?

Enter the War Room. The War Room is a great place because we have pretty open discussion and a good mix of posters, even if it is with a clear tilt to the right-wing side. I think that's what people come back here for. We don't need the War Room to be a conservative circle jerk, a right-wing echo chamber - enough of those out there. We also don't need the War Room to be a SJW forum. We need it so that the arguments of all sides clash.

@Jack V Savage has promised to confine himself to his POTWR thread and only post there, essentially creating a safe space for conservatives. That's just ridiculous and the opposite of what the forum needs. People hate him, but they actually benefit from getting exposed to him even if they don't realize they do and disagree with him 100% of the time.

@Palis has promised exactly nothing he can keep except pics. Electing him would only be a political statement, a demonstration of the right wing in the War Room. That's what his campaign is trying to do: make this about US or world politics.

I am the only candidate who actually is invested in making the War Room a better place. I like it the way it is, but we need to get shitposting under control. I will make the War Room great again and I ask for your vote.

What do you have to fear, what do you have to lose?

And what would you stand to gain by voting for another candidate?

He also has the support of a VP with over a decade of Sherdog service and War Room posting.

@Palis /Dr J 2016

I would like to know the candidates positions on the recent @Da Left Cross situation that's been developing.

I honestly have not been paying attention to him much, but White Belts spending 95% of their time in the War Room should ring alarm bells most of the time. A prime candidate for the rigorous vetting of new posters we will have.

And now we go back to our election analyst @Bald1 for tonight's update on how the race is shaping up.

Thank you Lead.

It seems clear that we've moved well past the mud slinging portion of this debate, and right into the poo fight night at the zoo portion. It seems the voter base is much in appreciation of this development, but I for one would have enjoyed the "your momma" jokes portion which was skipped altogether.

Right. Back to business....

@JDragon has made up some ground in the last 24 on the leading Palis/Drj duo. Uncovering Pals' seeming contemt for the War Room regulars in a place called the "sports bar" gave his campaigh a big boost. While not the H-bomb he would have liked, it did seemingly wobble the charismatic duo.

Yet, the freight train that is the @Palis / @Dr J campaing keeps chugging on..m

I think they'd still read it. I think what drives them so crazy is actually the knowledge that I'm right, consistently (see my betting record). What happens is that they stand their ground in the thread and get mad and stuff, but they're much more careful about making the same dumb points in the future.

Hmmm

If the Palis really is in the top 2 after the primary, major facepalm is in order.

I think controls need to be in place to prevent something like that from happening in the future. Maybe superdelegates.

The vote ain't open yet.

I will be voting for him when the polls open.

Plus, most of what you say is complete horse shit. You would make a great communications director for Trump.

Correspondent: "What does the Trump administration have to say about the report that his tax plan is only benefiting the wealthy?"

Palis: "Poor people are cucks." "Next question"
