I am so happy @Arkain2K is not running this show, he would literally faint in anger

Am I right to assume that means he has now made a good impression on you?

I can't really judge an impression based on these thread just because it's all about grandstanding and calling people out mostly. I would have to see his posts in other threads.

No offense taken. We obviously have different viewpoints on things, on the world, it's fine.

It has nothing to do with that. If anything, if you more consistently and coherently expressed a viewpoint of any kind, your stuff might be worth reading, and you might differentiate yourself. But I don't have the patience for it. Don't read comment sections in articles or the equivalent of comment-section trolls here.

Even though you have kept up your gimmick for quite a long time now, I would never put you on ignore, or anyone for that matter. I like reading what people like you have to say because a lot of it is bat shit insane (no offense) and the best part about it all is your way of thinking is going the way of the Dodo. Obsolete.

Of course I have no gimmick, and you wouldn't put me on ignore. I actually think about shit and post facts, write entertainingly, etc. If you're like most WRers, you probably read the group partly to learn from me. If I just banged out bitter one-liners like you, SMEAC, Junes, THP, etc., there would be no point in you reading my stuff.

Did anyone think we were going to have 19 candidates in this thing? Glad a lot of regulars decided to throw their name in the first go around. Would've been weird if it was like three candidates and no one even knew them.

I think there should be a better filter. Maybe a nomination process. To expand on the point I made earlier, ehtheist is sleazy, wrong about almost everything, etc., but he stands out in the group and puts some effort into his posts, etc. Ditto for Viva (a little slow, though). People who read the WR regularly know who he is. Can't say that about some of the people who moved on and are active in this thread while not making any impression on WR-only readers.

Ed: See above. Has this Dr J character ever posted in the WR before this thread?

I tried to think out a process and definitely have changes in mind for next year regarding the tiebreaker and possibly differentiation between voting and being able to run. The biggest problem was migration and the real election this year that made it hard to make a real objective criteria that would capture the real regulars. It is entirely possible that those who are new here for the election may continue to stay so I can't really fault the way it's been set up yet until I see what happens in a few months. Altogether though it's a learning process that should get better with time. I don't think I'd ever put in place a filter that specifically vets the nature or quality of the posts made by posters. That is entirely on the voters to make. I get my tiebreaker pushed people out early and next year, I'm 90% sure the new system will make sure they still get a chance to be voted on OR the tiebreaker criteria is more accurate to help a WR regular. Whoever ran this year will have a bonus applied if they run next year so people like Ehtheist and Viva have a much better chance the following year to get in if all things remain the same.
