Here's a quick list of all movies watched by the SMC. Or if you prefer, here's a more detailed examination.
The procession of noobs rolls on as @FrontNakedChoke steps up to the plate this week.
Jacob's Ladder (1990)
Director: Adrian Lyne
Stars: Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Peña, Danny Aiello
Premise: Mourning his dead child, a haunted Vietnam War veteran attempts to uncover his past while suffering from a severe case of dissociation. To do so, he must decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusions, and perceptions of death.
Why @FrontNakedChoke picked it: I watched this movie about a year ago and loved it. The atmosphere is really creepy and the story is gripping. Jacob's Ladder follows Vietnam war veteran Jacob Singer through his post war struggles. I chose Jacob's ladder because it's one of the best psychological thrillers out there.
Trailer:
Kill List (2011)
Director: Ben Wheatley
Stars: Neil Maskell, MyAnna Buring, Harry Simpson
Premise: Nearly a year after a botched job, a hitman takes a new assignment with the promise of a big payoff for three killings. What starts off as an easy task soon unravels, sending the killer into the heart of darkness.
Why @FrontNakedChoke picked it: Kill List is a British flick that I thought maybe some of you haven't seen. The reason I chose it is because of the progression throughout the the film. Though it starts a little slow, when it picks up it doesn't slow down. Kill List shifts through several genres including thriller and horror, with elements of conspiracy.
Trailer:
Mr. Brooks (2007)
Director: Bruce A. Evans
Stars: Kevin Costner, Demi Moore, William Hurt
Premise: A psychological thriller about a man who is sometimes controlled by his murder-and-mayhem-loving alter ego.
Why @FrontNakedChoke picked it: Mr Brooks follows the double life of Earl Brooks. Intelligent and successful, Brooks is Man of the year by day, and serial killer by night. I chose this movie for because I feel it's a unique and interesting take on this genre. Mr Brooks is under-rated in my estimation, and I thought there's a chance some of you haven't seen it.
Trailer:
Duel (1971)
Director: Steven Spielberg
Stars: Dennis Weaver, Jacqueline Scott, Eddie Firestone
Premise: A business commuter is pursued and terrorized by the malevolent driver of a massive tractor-trailer.
Why @FrontNakedChoke picked it: I watched this movie as a child and loved it. I remember being glued to the screen in suspense. It's been years since I've seen it, but when coming up with these picks I decided to add it in. The atmosphere and simplicity of the movie is why I chose it. It has really stuck with me all these years, and it's been a long time since I've seen it.
