SHERDOG MOVIE CLUB: Let's pick the Week 144 movie!

Let's pick the Week 144 Movie!

For me I guess it'd be

1. The Shield
2. Oz
3. Nip/Tuck (Very guilty pleasure)
4. Battlestar Galactica
5. The Wire

I went full-drama:

Brideshead Revisited
The Crown
Feud
Patrick Melrose
Romanoffs

there was definitely one “fuck no” choice this week, but I’m fine w/ the other three. I took a chance & picked the one I haven’t seen yet

There was one movie on the list that I straight out told LHWBelt "If this one wins, I quit the club.":D

Now I wonder if we have the same "fuck no" movie.

What happened to Shadow anyways

Got tired of Sherdog. Then got into a bunch of political flame wars and ended up deleating his own account.

Rome Season 1 was so damn good. You never get that kind of historical versimilatude in series (outside the Egypt stuff). It really was GoT before GoT).

Calm down, bro. I also loved me some Erin Gray Buck Rogers. But it wasn't that good. :D

I am going to guess there’s a 50/50 chance that we either have the same “fuck no” movie or the one I voted for is your “fuck no” movie lol

With my list of general series I included min-series and anime, so this time I will refrain from that.

I'm also only including series that I have seen in their entirety, as well as excluding series that haven't finished airing such as Game of Thrones for example. With that criteria this list is all of the dramatic series I've ever seen.

1. Twin Peaks
2. Rome
3. Boardwalk Empire
4. Borgia
5. The Wire
6. Breaking Bad
7. Spartacus

Steven Spielbergo's Ready Player One takes a resounding victory. This will be his second movie in the SMC after Lincoln. Also, fuck this nostalgia manchild garbage! I hope you movie haters are proud of yourself! That's it! I'm retiring from the SMC! I have already spoken with LHWBelt about this and he has agreed to take over the chair as Club President! His first order is to rename the club into the LHWBelt's Fanclub and you're all now legally obligated to refer to him as Sir Grandiousus McSuperluver--

What's that @jei? You're going to take away my Platinum Membership if I step down? Ah fuck. I like having my name in Forest Green...

I'm not handing in my badge and my gun yet, but this looks and sounds absolutely atrocious. It's more fun to tear a film down than it is to big it up so I guess there's some light at the end of the tunnel here though. Not that I'm pre-judging this or anything

I don't get it, what's the problem @europe1 ?

Shall we wait until next Wednesday for the discussion?;)

But basically, I hate that this films main-appeal is tacky nostalgia-porn. It's infantile and cringy. A film should be good on its own -- not just trying to remind you of better films by presenting iconography from them totally divorced from what made those films good in the first place.

Alright, werd. I haven't seen the film which is why I picked it. This is kinda what happens with movies in a movie club. People tend to vote for the one they haven't seen. We've all seen Sin City and Lord of the Rings so Player One had a great chance to win.

Not mad with this; although I picked Sin City. I will buy this in 4k, for my first viewing was a download.

True i had seen those two and hadn't seen ready player one or tomb raider. I cant really be blamed if its shit yall voted for it i dont even remember the trailer lol

haha I have to admit I'm expecting to hate this movie. I haven't actually seen it yet though, so there is always the possibility that I will enjoy it. I think they have both seen it already. The discussion should be fun.

A weird part of me was wishing Return of the King had won in the chance that at least one person had not seen the first two movies, which would undoubtedly lead to a unique perspective.
