Sherdog Bettors, Who you got for these two Heavyweight showdowns?

I'm leaning to Hunt winning 65/35(%) and have Rothwell over JDS at 60/40(%). I think Hunt has the wrestling/TDD and the striking to keep it there till the TKO if he fights smart but Mir could take him down as he did Arlovski. Mir's wrestling/positional game and striking has been better lately but I think Hunt's the favorite. Rothwell has been busy fighting and winning, JDS hasn't been fighting as much and has taken a lot more damage in his most recent fights. Rothwell is more well rounded and has a strong clinch game where JDS seems to be weak, so I have Rothwell as the favorite.

I agree with everything your saying, even though I really want to bet on JDS I can see Rothwell catching him with something. JDS seems like he has been very gun shy lately and not his usual agressive self, Miss the old version.

I think that was more from Overeem trying to take him out with counters which he ended up doing but he might be more aggressive earlier against Rothwell. I just don't know if it might be better for him in the long run to take an extra half year off or something to let his brain heal as much as possible after Cain 2, 3, Miocic, Overeem all in a row.

mir and roth.

But really it depends on the line. Depends if they are a good value and if you can realistically see them winning. Easier said than done I know lol

Rothwell should win. But he kinda has this neutral stance where he tries to reach for the clinch and if JDS has anything left he might be able to land something.

First, thank you for recognizing us as your betters. It's refreshing to see that kind of honesty here.

Second, I'm out on Mir/Hunt, as I pretty much agree with the implied odds. I'd pick Hunt at even odds. I'm betting on JDS to beat Rothwell. I was kind of surprised that he's the underdog, and I don't really buy the narrative that he's "not the same."

Mir and Rothwell.

Although Hunt's TDD has improved Mir is crafty as hell and I really wouldn't be surprised to see him roll into a leglock to at least initiate the grappling / scramble. Might sound crazy but he has power on his feet and although it's unlikely he could tag Hunt. Overall I just think he has more ways to win it but a Hunt win would hardly be surprising.

Rothwell to beat JDS. Ask me that 3 years ago and I'd say JDS puts Rothwell into a coma. JDS has taken so much damage and definitely looks to be on a downwards spiral whilst Rothwell is arguably in his prime, kicking ass and turning into some sort of Jiu Jitsu cyborg. JDS has that one punch KO power so there's always that chance but he very hittable himself.

Who are you guys betting on for Hunt Vs Mir and JDS Vs Rothwell?

Bettors*

When I was betting I had a rule against betting heavyweights in mma. The division is simply too volatile. It really comes down to intangibles like "who's going to land the big one first?" or "Will he get the takedown before getting caught?". Not to mention Heavyweights tend to be some of the least skilled(not all of them, mind you, but in general) fighters around.

Hunt + JDS

I picked against JDS in his last fight but it's around the time Ben loses and wonders where it al went wrong.

I think Hunt is a relatively safe bet. He lasted in Werdum's guard and Frank is easy to rock on feet.

JDS beats Rothwell standing. Even Mitrione and Barnett looked better on feet. But Rothwell can also add another submission victory to the list because he is tough enough to put Junior in that position.

Find Brendan Schaub giving his predictions of the breakdown.
Bet the opposite
?????
Profit

Rothwell is going to be in front of him to hit pretty much the whole fight and Rothwell doesn't have the grappling to get him down and keep him there. I think Rothwell gets bludgeoned, but maybe his strange run will continue.

Do not bet on HW fights, anything can happen in those two

i liked mir sub +450 when it opened but its dropped, good way to hedge if u go big on hunt.

Yes thanks for catching my bad spelling and you both make good points, I don't know if it's just me but I have a hard time seeing hunt not knocking Mir out. Every exchange he'll be one grazing punch away.
