This should literally be the rule: if nobody between you and the champ is willing to take the fight and the org is unable to force them, you get the title shot. Avoiding dangerous opponents is becoming an issue. Already the casuals complain how Islam got a shot at the belt without fighting top5 guys - wiki entries do not remember all the ducking and the lame excuses.

I’ll add to that. If the guys between you and the champ refuse to fight you, they should be denied a TS if you were to become champion. You can’t be around for the good times if you’ve avoid the bad times. Just like how chandler and Poirier avoided Islam like the plaque but now wants to courtship him to a TS. Fuck all that.

If he doesn’t fix his striking defense, he won’t get past someone like Khwmzat or Leon. Both guys have KO power and you can’t rely on walking them down and taking 60 sig strikes to the head.

Good luck top 5 is almost as bad as LW. Why should they risk their career on Shavkat? The should avoid him until he gets a title because no one wants to fight him.

Somebody is going to have to fight him. If not, just leapfrog him like they did with Islam. It’s not really a problem anymore.

They can give title shots to anybody they want. Move fighters up and down the rankings as they want. Nobody is going to say anything about it.

Shavkat said he wants a title shot next, that he's ready but if not a title shot give him Colby Covington. I think realistically we see him next vs Colby, Burns, Belal or maybe Thompson. He's ranked 6th in the UFC now, these all make sense.

For now he has Ramadan and can enjoy time with family. I'm hoping he fights again around July-August and then a title shot by years end or early next year.

Is Colby even an active fighter these days?

He has not fought in the last 12 months, has nothing booked and only has 3 fights in the last 3 years.

I almost see him as a retired fighter.
