My point is that he isn't using it in the video.
He is just being respectful of his Hyung Nim, I know.
It would have been nice to see him actually try a bit, sure it is a TV show, but...
The fans would have liked to have seen his chops, I think.

Well, as Dong states in the show, he is a black belt in judo (majored in judo in univ) and obviously a legit judoka but he never really competed in judo. Sexyama won a gold medal in Asian Games. Just straight up judo credentials, they are not even close. Asian Games is a Olympic-like event in Asia and when you are best in judo in Asia, you are the best.

DHK is a fourth degree Black Belt in Judo lol, which isn't an easy thing compared to most countries. South Korea has a lot of legit judokas, and DHK is one of them)

Akiyama grabs Dongs shirt sleeves to gain advantage. It is clear from this video Songs judo is superior. Dong has grapplerape too many fighters to mention, going as far back as the Matt Brown fight. And he is still doing it today. Akiyama not much for using his judo in MMA.

Yes. I'm saying he didn't show up with any intention of showing it that day.
In my opinion, he should have done a bit of a demo instead of pretending to do something.
Like when GSP and Royce got together.
I have competed in judo in South Korea as a black belt.
I know who he is.

Dong being respectuf of the older sexyama. that's why he does not try anything. In Korea age difference, even 1year, matters.

He wasnt really trying, but even if he did, Akiyama would get the better of him. Better judo credentials and bigger.
Even with Akiyama's mediocre run in UFC, he has blessed us with the most beautiful judo throws ever seen inside the octagon.

respect for that. I wanted to train in Judo when I was stationed there, but when I heard how tough they can be in Randori, even to complete beginners, compounded with not knowing Korean language at the time, I wussed out. A shame, looking back now.

Yeah. Koreans are wonderful people. I started Karate at 7 and Judo at 14. Lifelong pursuit. Where ever you travel in the world you can always find martial artists and musicians, instant friendships.
