I honestly think he would've been bright and early to every media session just to rub it in Aldo's face. I'm assuming he's a lot wittier when he's winning. He wanted to be on this "historic card", remember? He knew there were gonna be tons of press to do for 200. If that's the case, he should've taken time off and defended his belt at another event.

Nope.

He'd do 2 world tours starting and finishing in Brazil.

He lost his last fight and now wants to remove the distractions that come with it.He cancelled movie roles etc so he can focus on fighting. And he agreed to do 1 press conference which lets behonest is all u need it just gets stale after that

Fear makes people do the strangest things.

He also agreed to do more media stuff if they could push it to May. Just didn't want to interrupt the hard training he flew his entire team to Iceland to do. UFC is just being silly here.

Is it their fault he chose to move his team to fucking Iceland?
UFC is making it clear that their fighters have to fulfill their contract obligations, as they have in the past, and I don't see anything wrong with it.
It's against the company's interest to let fighters decide what they will and won't do depending on convenience.

no because he already acknowledges that Diaz being bigger, taller, better is why he needs to focus on fighting and less promo.

You are assuming it's in Conor's contract that he has to jump whenever the UFC says jump for any press idea they come up with, and with who knows how much notice. I doubt that it works that way.

Anyway, I don't think Conor could promote the $UFC more than by "retiring" like he did. I never heard so many things about Conor before (and there were already a lot of articles and threads about Conor)

Why do the same thing if the result was negative for him? Conor is right to focus on his preparation, he need to make adjustments on his game.

But you never answered the question: Would this have happened if he was fighting Aldo in a rematch?

Shit. Even his fangirls are ducking hard questions.

A reasonable response.
I should've prefaced the body of my post with "I don't know what I'm talking about, but..."
I am forming my opinion on thin information, but from here it looks like Conor's not being honorable in his dealings with the company, and I usually side with the fighter.
If anyone should be able to blow off pressers, it's not the highest paid guy in the sport. Regardless, it's not going to take any significant time away from his training and the costs involved would seem to be a drop in the ocean of his self proclaimed fat bank account.

Conor agreed to do a press conference like normal, and also extra press stuff if they could just do it in May instead of right now. That sounds like someone trying to work with the company to me. Unreasonable is telling your fighter they have to do something on a certain time without negotiating schedules & agreeing to it first, these guys are professionals, & can't have their training plans interrupted on a whim.

How many posts and you still haven't answered the million dollar question. See Thread Title.

I don't think it's a very relevant question, but here's my answer: If he lost to Aldo, he would probably be doing this exact same thing; if it was now (pre-Nate) where he had just beaten Aldo, he probably wouldn't care as much because he was riding high; but he might still care even then, because the issue was he had a plan, he flew his entire team to Iceland, and is in the middle of training there, when the UFC wants him to suddenly drop everything now.

No. Had Aldo secured the rematch for UFC 200 after Aldo's actual LOSS, would Conor be sweating bullets like this and making bizarre tweets/posts.

Did you purposefully assume wrong?
