serious talk about Henry Cejudo

I get that his money dictates him being so cringy...but outside of that. hes a BAD MOTHER FUCKER man. he really is. listening to him coach Costa and any time i get a chance to see the man behind the cringe. its amazing. Hes truly one of combat sports goats and i wish he got more respect overall. That fight vs Marlon was so bad ass. Kneeing irritating ass cruz "right in the face" lol. Cutting the snakes head off in less than a minute.Beating MM by decision (to me that seems harder than getting a finish) Im pulling for him vs Volk..its a tough fight for him..But we could really be talking about THE GOAT GOAT. What if he sleeps volk lol? would you be willing to say hes the best ever?
I like it when retired fighters stay retired. He is bad ass. But, I actually like the idea of going out on a high before the UFC can pimp him into a lifetime CTE situation.

The best ever?

LOL

125 is the weakest division in the UFC. He's only on a 6 fight winning. Lost to DJ, Benevidez.. Sure he's had some very impressive wins but he's far from being in the same discussion as GSP, Silva, Jones.. Those guys have stayed on top and defended their title for years against the very best. That's the hardest part of being a champion.
If he wins Volk he can be considered as the best. But I highly doubt it, Volk is not an easy guy. Volk is an absolute beast.

Did you not just read my post lol

The best of what?

The guys that I named have 10+ title wins.
But if he wins Volk he is the first guy to be a champ in 3 different division in the UFC history. I think "if" he can do it, sure he can be the best.

C4 incoming.

This...

C3 isn’t even his final form.

Cejudo's accomplishments are impressive...but there is much room to grow if he wants to truly belong in GOAT discussions (specifically, more defenses).

Parachuting into an undeserved title shot with Volk would be ridiculous. IMHO, it would be more of chasing an accolade than a substantial accomplishment when there are a LOT of contenders at 135 that Cejudo should have defended against, plus he would have beaten ZERO contenders at 145 to actually earn that shot. It would be a win over a legit guy, for sure...and it technically is a title in a third division...but not earning that shot and not defending means that it is not nearly the boon to his legacy that it could be.

Conor and GSP face similar (albeit different from each other) criticisms for their 2nd division titles. The wins are legit...the way they got those shots, and not defending afterwards, means that they should not factor in too strongly into their overall legacies, IMHO. GSP is a GOAT candidate because of his overall WW record, number of defenses, calibre of competition throughout his career, etc...not so much because he beat Bisping in a one-off MW title fight. Conor's in-cage legacy lies primarily at 145 too.
Great analysis

I used to not be able to stand him. But he’s won me over and his shtick doesn’t bother me anymore. Kinda like how I used to despise Bisping.

What I want to know is how the fuck he learned Portuguese so fast. I guess having big booty Brazilian girlfriends might help.

He’s now where near the best ever and he still wouldn’t be if he beat Volk. That win would obviously be impressive though.

CCC is stud. He is taking this approach because it's the easiest and best way to increase your value. Fans either love or hate him but at least they care one way or the other. By sitting out/retiring is about his only move for negotiating better paydays.

if Cejudo can actually beat volk and claim a third belt...holy shit I don't even know how to rank that. The dude is an incredible fighter and Volk v Cejudo is one of the best fights to make in the game right now.

Being in the gym day in and day out with a bunch of Brazilians when you know Spanish helps. Hell, I picked up a good base of Spanish from working in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant for three months.

MM is better... he stopped Henry.

Tried to avenge that loss but only got a debatable split decision.

Wh
I don’t like the idea of him getting a FW title shot as a comeback fight, but yes, it would be impressive if he won.

Why not? He's an exciting two division champ that has backed up everything he has said and is constantly challenging himself.
