Why does one need to look a person in the eyes when talking to them? There isn't a caption screen in a person's eyes.

I've actually heard that in some cultures it's considered disrespectful to look someone in the eyes when talking to them (especially if they are your superior).

I asked a couple of young ladies about this and they say that if women didn't want men to look at them they would wear a Burqua.
