Damn. I never saw him say anything negative about someone or their taste in movies. Always a kind, chill guy.

Rio Grande got real lame towards the end. I barely wanted to finish it. It's still okay overall but could've been way better.

I hate the speed the film up technique for chase scenes. One of the worst moves of all time

Did you see High Plains Drifter? I feel like you were in here talking about it recently...can't remember...but it's pretty rad imo. I dug the surreal aspects surrounding Eastwood's character and that it never made it any less of a Western.

I was going to write some angry response to this... but then I realized that I don't even remember how Rio Grande ends so maybe you're right.:D

Grande basically felt like a more sombre and mature rework on some of Fords older films, like Yellow Ribbon.

One thing I learned from listening to Audio Commentaries is how much directors like to brag about being able to mask undercranking the camera.

But yeah, I hate that techniqe too.

Goddamn edco. Barely knew him but that news really threw me off this morning.

Cheers and RIP mate.

It's all over his Facebook page so I guess I'll post it here. We lost another friend recently.

@edco76 passed away recently. I know he used to post a lot in this thread so I wanted to post it here first.
Oh man. This one really hits hard because he & I actually interacted from time to time, more so about beer than about film. Really sucks man. Really sucks. RIP to a really cool dude who never had a single negative to say about anyone, regardless of their opinion, & dedicated his life to helping others.

I dont know @edco76 but he went to the same highschool as I did

Grew up in the same town

pretty crazy...RIP man

Fucking Jon Jones are you kidding right now.

Lesnar-Hunt headlining UFC 200 is a joke.

Yeah but a pretty funny joke!

...

Im so traumatized right now that I'm nit even sad!

Some bullshit.

Terribly sorry for your loss guys. I shouldn't have read that story. Wife and kids as well? Guy who worked in healthcare? Fuck the world sometimes man.

Commiserations all.

Goddamn that is really sad. He will be very much missed here- great Sherdog poster- feel horrible for his family. RIP @edco76. Can't believe it.

Jones screwed Jones. I look at this era in the UFC now and it's the first time in a long time where I feel every weight class title picture is wide open- save for DJ who has that 125 belt on lock.

Jones was the only other guy right there with DJ who still had that aura of invincibility but he now might not fight for another year or more. Damn shame.

Tate vs. Nunes now headlining but Brock's presence is the real bread and butter in terms of drawing power. Gotta imagine Hunto tkos him in the second or late in the first. Four years away from the game is like a lifetime when it comes to combat sports I feel. But Brock was never in a dull fight and I don't expect tomorrow's to be either.

Alvarez winning last night was huge. Just underscores my point that a lot of these belts very well might get hot potatoed.

Going soft in my old age. Really liked The Neon Demon. Will likely watch again at the movies just on the strength of the opening.

Typically awkward dramatically for Refn but it deals with shit I think about a lot.

Ricky Bless!!

Definitely go see it again. There are some small details that I noticed only after knowing the path the film takes & where it ends.

Yup. I'd like to give Robbie and Cruz their due (Cruz being one of my favourite fighters) but I can't help but feel that those belts are in precarious positions as well. Also would like to point out that I was skeptical about RDA's longevity as champion in a previous SMD thread ;)

Jones is a shame, but Anderson stepping up could be the silver lining. I don't like that he hasn't been training, but this kind of unconventional arrangement makes me hopeful that he's got some magic left in those 8 legs.
