This is probably closest we ever get to Duke 3D remake.
5 levels from the first episode of Duke Nukem 3D for Serious Sam Fusion. Additionally mod maker has added some of his own flair to levels in form of extra areas and things like friendly NPC's
What is Serious Sam Fusion?
Serious Sam Fusion 2017 is a compilation of Serious Sam games, which includes Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam VR: The First Encounter, Serious Sam VR: The Second Encounter, and Serious Sam 3: BFE. Currently, the game is in the beta stage, but is free to owners of any of the original games.
Do note that mod requires owning Serious Sam 3

How I did it:
I didn't own any of the Serious Sam games on steam so when Sam 3 was on sale I bought it. Then it showed in my steam library with Serious Sam Fusion. I installed just the Serious Sam Fusion, it detected I own Sam 3 and allowed me to play it.
Then I went to steam workshop and subscribed to mods in the steam workshop link above. After Steam had automatically downloaded them, I started the game from steam library by right clicking it and choosing "Play moddable". In the main menu, go to Singleplayer -> Campaign and select "Serious Duke 3D"
My opinion:
I liked it, it is running on serious engine so it doesn't feel exactly the same but it comes close. I had few crashes but it ran otherwise fine. Gameplay feels like it has Serious Sam style hordes of enemies coming at you which feels a little different from Duke 3D.
