Even evangelicals should pray for President Barack Obama, Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) said at a gathering of religious conservatives on Friday.

"You know, I think we are called to pray. We are called to pray for our country, for our leaders, and yes, even our president," Perdue said during the Faith & Freedom Coalition's Road to the Majority conference in Washington. "You know, in his role as president, I think we should pray for Barack Obama."

But not just any prayer, he suggested, telling attendees that "we need to be very specific about how we pray."

"We should pray like Psalms 109:8 says. It says, ‘Let his days be few, and let another have his office,'" Perdue said, to laughter and applause. "In all seriousness, I believe that America is at a moment of crisis."

Verse 9 is as follows: "Let his children be fatherless. And his wife a widow."

It continues:

"Let his children continually be vagabonds, and beg;
Let them seek their bread also from their desolate places."

"Let the creditor seize all that he has,
And let strangers plunder his labor."

"Let there be none to extend mercy to him,
Nor let there be any to favor his fatherless children."

"Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following let their name be blotted out."

I don't think he was praying/talking about anything to happen to him other then leaving office.

so you could say he was picking and choosing what he pulling from the bible?

I have no doubt what he meant by that ridiculous prayer but my questions is... why do people who pray and do religious stuff always look and sound like lunatics?

I think he was he was pulling something and trying to fit just the part he quoted to his thoughts.

Wait a minute. A man who claims to be Christian is exhibiting unchristian-like views. I for one am shocked

Well than its either beyond idiotic to use that verse without realizing what followed or some staffer just gave him the line and he's just plan lazy.

I'd love to see the rights backlash if anyone used a verse as disgusting as this from the Koran against Donald Trump.

Religion of peace.

Sorry could not help it.

This dude is a God Warrior, most God Warriors, would not know about the Bible if it hit him in the face. The sad part is other Cafeteria Christians will defend this buffoon.
I still wonder why, if someone on your team says something stupid you can't call him out on it. If you say Perdue is an idiot, you don't have to hand in your conservative card.

oops too late, he has already been defended in this thread.

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and acts like a duck...

Except the guy didn't continue. So verse 9 is not what this guy said. It was a joke. I want Obama out of office too.

Hussein is a muslum, that makes it ok.

Probably better said in his first year as president then his last

Meh, most of the great people of history were notably religious. Hell, most of the presidents past the very recent that we all but worship as Americans were religious. Hasn't Obama even come out as religious - perhaps a lunatic? You sure it's fair to suggest this kind of thing just because someone is religious? Personally, I have too much respect for figure form Isaac Newton to Kierkegaard to Einstein to call someone a lunatic for being religious, even if I don't share their belief. I'm cutting that list to about 0.05% of what it could be, as far as great historical figures go, by the way. How about you?

How about me, what?

Do you consider most of the great people in history lunatics? I mean you quoted, and specifically bolded the later part of this:

I have no doubt what he meant by that ridiculous prayer but my questions is... why do people who pray and do religious stuff always look and sound like lunatics?

And then you said this:

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and acts like a duck...

The implication is pretty clear. "Why do people who pray and do religious stuff always look and sound like lunatics?" - you say "if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and acts like a duck"... Well, go figure - that includes Newton, Lincoln, Luther King Jr., Teddy Roosevelt, Obama, and literally countless other historical figures.

So, are they lunatics? Well, I don't consider any of those people lunatics, and they did the things you seem to be implying makes them lunatics. So, what about you? Teddy Roosevelt - religious lunatic? Newton? Lincoln? Martin Luther King Junior? Our current president? Do tell. Was your initial statement bullshit, or do you think our current president is a lunatic because he prays - long with the countess other great figures I mentioned, and didn't mention?
