I love the wolf and I think he will be champion BUT ... let's be real here. He beat 3 complete scubs and the wins have not aged well. One of them opponents in his very next fight set a record for most strikes absorbed lol I know Khamzat has a ton of hype around him but in no way shape or form does he deserve a title shot. Honestly he doesn't even deserve a fight with Leon. I think Khamzat believes in himself and he WOULD fight anyone but it's clear the UFC is protecting him at this point. Why not have him fight Magny or even Perry? He wants to fight yet no fight booked... hmmmmmm
 
I feel like its a win win fight for the ufc, khamzat wins hes beat s top contender and the buzz will b unreal. Edwards wins and he derails the hype train and should garner a bit of attention from fans
 
I am all aboard Khamz hype train but knowing Sherdog if he somehow would lose (it's not out of a question) I wonder what funny nickname Sherbros would call him... Canzat? Or maybe Chinaev?
Cannot wait for fight. I hope it will be rescheduled to January.

Not that easy. Didn't they already try a few names like Maia and Wonderboy - then we had Magny asking for the fight, but the UFC didn't think he was good enough

Nope!

Those guys might not have been at the top of the game but they are still fighters who fought many good fighters and won many fights.

The thing that made Khamzat such a draw is not about who he beat but how he did it. He only got hit by two taps by one fighter in three fights.
Kevin Holland struggled against Gerald, John Phillips should never fight in MMA fight again but he did bust that asain boy face up, Rhys Mckee is young and can grow.
 
I've heard some loose talks, that Khamzat has this "X factor" the UFC would love on a champ of theirs.
So they do have a plan of fast tracking him to a title fight, in case he keeps delivering the same golden stuff of course.

I would imagine that they indeed "promised" (never trust Dana) a shot at the title if, let's say, he can finish Leon and not involve the judges.

Why the fuck would he ask for a replacement when he’s being handed a top 5 fighter? What would he gain from beating a lower ranked guy? Don’t be a Tony Ferguson and blow a nice payday because you’re stupid.

Considering he was already calling out Maia when he had his other fights booked that's why. He's already done very well out of being lower ranked guys, someone like Magny was what I meant.

Either way, it's not that deep.

If Edward wins, the UFC will market him as the sleeper champion and will push for a Masvidal fight, I think.
 
sooo let me get this straight...

a basically unranked prospect gets a gift match against a top 5 ranked leon edwards,

and if this prospect wins he gets a shot at the title?

that's messed up. edwards can't even get a shot at a top 5 guy himself, much less a title shot.

there is no loyalty, respect, appreciation, or seniority in the ufc.

just hardball negotiations and a lot of don't cross the boss in the ufc
 
Khamzat is the betting favorite over Leon and is getting this fight because of his Octagon performances. Apparently the fans think Khamzat is going to win so that somewhat justifies him getting this fight. Straight into the deep end of the pool.

You think every fight that gets cancelled is like that, or...?

They'll force Leon to take the fight knowing he's not at 100% after recovering from COVID and then Khamzat smashes him and gets promised a title shot after Usman/Burns. If Leon has to pull out again, they just make the Magny fight on short notice.
