Schaub's Comedy Special: Gringo Papi

The Ukrainian army should have Schaub's comedy translated to Russian and blasted at full volume. That will make the Russian soldiers either leave or shoot themselves.
 
Well, he definitely shouldn’t be releasing specials. There’s no way I’m going to listen to that. But I feel bad for the guy.
 
What’s the P.F. Chang’s thing all about ? That his haters / fake fans/ Reddit guys whatever talk about ?
 
this was A LOT better than his first stand-up show, but this is still pretty bad. the one thing i noticed about this one, is how much more relaxed schaub is. it helps with the flow of the show. but the bottom line, is that schaub doesn't tell funny jokes or stories. it's like someone with zero talent trying to excel at something that is so foreign to them.

Yeah comedy is the worst thing to fail at too, because if you're not funny then people get angry at you. Like it's insulting that you thought they were dumb enough to laugh at your bad jokes.

His podcast was moderately successful. He doesn't need to keep embarrassing himself by trying to be a comic.

I don't begrudge the dude for trying. But it pisses me off to see him getting attention that funnier comics deserve more than he does.

I died reading that subreddit. They really take an effort into hating the man. The way they spell stuff to mimic Brendan kills me. It's obvious that they all watch his show but it's just to shit on him.

haha, that's a good point. it's like insulting our intelligence in thinking we'd laugh at it.
 
the reviews in this thread are a lot more positive than for his first stand up special

Going out on a limb here with a genuine response: Not bad. Not great by any stretch, but not bad. In all seriousness, I'm feeling weirdly proud of Schaub. Don't get me wrong, his first special was unwatchable dog shit. This one isn't. This is several steps up, which proves that he's been putting in the time and the work to get in the reps and continually improve. If slow and steady wins the race, I'd like to think that in another 5-10 years he'll put out a legit special. This one is still a bit too mechanical - I can see and feel the "moves," the joke construction is still a bit transparent and the performance aspect takes me out of the bits and stories, he doesn't actually have a rhythm yet and I don't think he's found his true voice yet (assuming/hoping he has one and will find it eventually) - but the mechanics aren't half bad and a few of those jokes were solid.

He's obviously fortunate to be in the mix hanging out with and getting talked up by the likes of Rogan, Kreischer, Segura, and Schulz, and doing a podcast with a wacky genius like Theo Von helps as well, because he's not actually on any of their levels when it comes to stand up. But he's unquestionably improving and I respect the hustle.
