I gotta admit PHL's pic of the couch with a curtain sure did bring back memories of a few places I slept in 1986/87 in the Netherlands while traveling related to sport. They set up 4" thick mattresses that were barely big enough for me in gymnasiums of schools with a rope and sheet separating the prison camp styled housing from the usable gym area.

Generally I prefer hotels. The amenities are worth it to me.

But I have used Airbnb a few times to rent out Condo's for a weekend. You generally get a nicer living space but sacrifice all service.

Airbnb for most Snowboarding trips is money.

What i get basic services from airbnb. The added benefits from hotels arent worth it for the extra expense. Plus i get to meet fresh flesh that want to learn about the wonders of the world.
 
The fact that anyone would let you into their house is fucking astonishing to me.
 
Air BnB is sometimes a lot cheaper but Im going to go on a little mini-vacation this weekend and the postings I saw were outrageous. Gladly go fuck yourself for prices that are higher than a bed and breakfast. lol.
 
If anyone of you are ever in Lake Tahoe and need a place holler at me. Its just a small house but its nice and cozy, two blocks from the lake and about a mile from the casinos.

I take a snowboard trip to Tahoe every year. Went the airbnb route once to stay at a condo but all in all it just doesn't compare to the Casino experience. Now a number of years in, all of us that go get free room offers at the Hard Rock and Montbleu and just take advantage of that.

If you can get us some free lift tickets tho... that would be a big help lol.

Ya the house is really only better for small fam/group trips. You can get a mansion in Tahoe for $1k for the weekend so we pretty much never stay at the hotels anymore since we have such a large group.

I took a trip to California with my girlfriend in grad school and we stayed at a $35/night hotel that was actually pretty decent. It was a while ago but Lake Tahoe has some great deals.
