i made the mistake of saying 'enschuldigen' (excuse me) to every German/Austrian/dutch person i saw in vegas (which was alot, second only to the patented Asian tourist) when i heard them speaking.

always a bad move, b/c they then assume i speak fluent German, which i'm not even remotely close. it's actually embarrassing how little i learned living there, but everyone but former Nazis spoke english, so ya.
