Wrestling is awesome, wish I picked it up earlier. Didn't start till I was a freshmen but I was a beast junior and sr year. Wasted the previous 10 years of my life playing dive grass and some baseball.

The physicality of it was the best, to this day Ive never been pushed as hard as that shit was. Wish I had started earlier too but meh. Probably be a cripple now.

i totally understand it to some degree. i knew early on, from my build, that basketball and like wr/db was going to be my lane. i'm fairly certain i tore a ligament/tendon in my ankle in college landing on a guy's foot, had health insurance but walked it off anyway, and it never really healed. did the exact same thing playing for the Army Europe team, not as bad though. every single time i play now, i'm fine while playing, but f'd for like two days afterwards. still play tho

Speaking of builds and choosing the path, check out Brandon Lilly's before and after pictures. Crazy shit.

Its a weird sport from an outside perspective. But I guess I can say the same about a lot of others. How many knees destroyed in soccer? Arms in baseball, trauma and god knows what else on football etc etc.

Guess its just all what youre passionate about. Played ball my entire childhood, wrastled later, gave being a can mma enthusiast a go. Didnt enjoy any of them as much as I like hitting weights.

I get what you're saying but I just think that powerlifting gets to the point where it's obvious that you're putting way too much stress on your body. Back when I was cycling I had a powerlifting mindset until one day I thought my right hand literally tore off. I was shrugging 495 with an olympic bar and on the first rep I felt something weird with my right hand, and then on the third or fourth rep I thought I felt something slide inside my wrist and dropped the bar. Creeped me out.

I never really had any serious injuries besides a couple of broken bones. Played football and swam. My right shoulder is a little screwy, but no major injuries. I still lift 2-3 times a week and do cardio, but I'm a 30 yr old dude with somewhat of a paunch. I like to eat and drink. I like being physically active. It's not something I'm obsessive about obviously.

i get the appeal of wrestling, but my stepdad forced my brother and I to do it, and he was a huge douche, so we kinda went in w/ a huge bias. tbf tho, he used to make us wrestle him (not in a gay way, he legit was trying to teach us), but dude wrestled at Oregon State and didn't exactly go easy. shit is not fun when you're 9 and the size of starvin marvin

edit: when he got mad, but not ultra mad where he'd let loose and just start filling the room with backhands/full on fistpunches, he's calculatingly discipline us by straight up putting us in a decent crossface. for real, fuckthat guy

None of them will tell you the body is supposed to do that, or that its good for them. Takes major sacrifices to get to those levels. Id say the majority have devastating injuries.

Going one on one with someone else is the shit. I should've wrestled in college but I wanted to party instead to make up for the shit I missed in hs because of wrestling lol. Felt bad for some of my lighter teammates, they had to error a handful of girls.

Tried wrestling in high school. I definitely wasn't built for that shit though.

my favorite part of bootcamp, the only good part really, was level one combatives. it was immediately obvious whom had wrestled or grappled before. an explosive guy got choked unconscious and pissed himself w/in the first 30 seconds by this random asian cat whom slapped a guillotine on instantly.

it was glorious, only b/c the dude was talking so much shit in line the whole time.

I remember a bunch of football dudes coming into wrestling after football season thinking they were the shit. Most of them got pinked out of the room within a couple days. Shit is pretty rough on the body.

Man cannis' plot in the last got episode was brutal.

lorenzo neal was my dude on the chargers. w/o even knowing it, i was like 'bet his dude wrestled in college, he's too tough' sure enough...

I only wrestled in junior high. Had to go one on one with a girl at a tournament. Wasn't sure how hard to go at her lol.

HBO is coming out with some weird shows. Particularly that Jack black one and "ballers"

LMAO @ powerlifting. Only thing you need to do in the gym for MASSIVE gains is high reps/light (relative - light for me might be tons for some of you) weight for a good pump. I just get a pump and leave, 1 hr max.
