on a lighter note, apparently my kid is getting too spoiled. he was asking for toys too much, so i made a deal w/ him if he stopped asking his mom and grandma all the time, he'd get more at my house. Problem is he's smart, so now he just asks his mom and grandma to come to my house all the time haha

gotta find another way to divert his attention, i mean not like i know wtf i'm doing. any suggestions from the other parents here?

if i slept in past 8 while visiting during college (first two years, they moved to okinawa for my last two years and i said fuck that), he would open the door and have my much younger half brother walk over and tell me to wake up, and if i didn't immediately get up he would then come over and play Reveille w/ his mouth literally in my ear

i've never met a more annoying person in my life haha

thinking back, he was a master troll though so respect?

No hyperbole, he's never handed my brother or I a single dollar in our entire lives. Not saying like sports leagues weren't paid for by our mom who's money came from him, but he never gave us lunch money for school, an allowance, grades, ice cream man, etc... Even at sporting events, like when he got free tickets to all home SEA games b/c his marines did the colorguard, we weren't allowed to order food or drinks or anything

he would give us xmas gifts, but it was always like the book 7 Habits for Highly Successful People or a video on joining the marines or some shit haha.

probably partly why i'm so grimy, i learned to temper expectations at quite the young age

Haha I wasn't on your level but we didn't get an allowance and my parents always brought lunch wherever we went.

Back in the day you could bring food and drinks into the Vet for Phillies games, same with the zoo and Sixflags.

This summer we were at the zoo and I got iced cream and told my girl how as a kid we would never get iced cream at the zoo.

Than we walked by a little kid who was staring at my iced cream and I laughed and said "he's soooo jealous right. When he's an adult he can have iced cream at the zoo."

i actually forgot about the one time we got food before the game to bring into the kingdome. we used to park at the Coast Guard station and walk b/c his ass wasn't paying for parking haha. We ordered McDonalds, and i ordered a plain burger and it came w/ ketchup and pickles or whatever. I said i cant eat that, and he immediately fired it into my face and it stuck b/c of the ketchup.

I fucking hate ketchup first of all and almost gagged, but it was probably the most denigrating thing that's ever happened to me IRL, and he's beat me many times as a kid. I mean i was like in either 8th or 9th grade, so i wasn't a child.

we went to a lot of free games, and he never ordered food for us again. It was my fault apparently

My sister is a very picky eater and hates ketchup.

One time her husband kissed her goodbye and than said "I just ate a sandwich with ketchup on it."

She punched him in the face without hesitation and than when she realized what she did said "Sorry.... you know how I feel about ketchup."


It's not child abuse but I still thought it was funnt.
 
it really wasn't that bad though, like i said while i didn't get frivolous nice things we certainly were far from poor and i got to play any sport i wanted. had to walk around on tiptoes so not to disrespect him or whatever, but once i hit like 10 you figured that shit out and just spent as much time as possible outside the house.

not that long ago most people were arguably raised that way or worse, so like i always say, could've been worse

oregon i think, my younger half bro just visited and he lives w/ him.
i also realize now he used to force us to wrestle, not like in a league but w/ him. not in a some weird gay way, but i think it was a way to early on set in intimidation. i mean he wrestled at Oregon State and coached the USMC team, plus was way bigger

it never even once occurred to me to test him, my dad did tho in public at a CoCo's restaurant during the handoff and he dicktucked and went inside hahah

ex wife used to eat stuff w/ nasty sauces and try to kiss me w/o wiping her mouth off

My dad had his own dry wall business and my mom always had a decent job.

We weren't spoiled, like in rich ppl terms, but compared to their income, we were super spoiled.

They forked out tons of $, especially for my brother's travel team.

They were at the point where they were winning state titles 15 or 20-0, so they had to travel out of state constantly to have teams even be competitive.

I didn't find out until after my dad's death, that they only spoiled us because he knew he was on borrowed time and just wanted to see us happy while he was still alive.

haven't seen him since my brother came back wounded from Iraq, so 2004
edit: they lived in okinawa but came to see him, and then him and my mom split while back over there and it finalized while back in VA. i'd visit my mom and see my half bro, but not him
