You're not putting me on the spot. This is outside of my domain of expertise. Your theory sounds like the "AIDS is caused by gay bowel disease" theory.

Are you thinking about the guy (and I forget his name) in the early 90s who challenged other immunologists on the assumption that HIV is the cause of AIDS? IIRC he was a legit immunologist and asked uncomfortable questions of other researchers.

I think that stuff has been settled. Not everyone responds to the HIV in the same way.

Here is a fun fact, they've found a new super-aggressive strain of HIV that leads to AIDS much faster than the established strains of HIV that most would be familiar with. IIRC they found it in Cuba ... just a heads up faust.
I can't remember the specifics because it was literally like 5 years ago when I was looking into it, but what made sense to me was the idea of HIV deriving from cases of the same person being infected with syphilis multiple times. Like you have someone, say Corona (random name), who gets syphilis and doesn't treat it. Then he goes out and has buttsex with another syphilis carrier, say Revo (random name), and contracts another strain of syphilis. This happens over and over again with new partners (Ang, Therealdope, Kaderp, Ja'Mychal, Gunt, RR, -- random names). I'm wondering if a mutation occurs at some point. There's evidence that it could.

The timeline is also interesting. There was a (very) large number of confirmed syphilis cases in the mid-late 70s that went untreated. In San Francisco, specifically. These syphilis patients must've either gone on to die in obscurity or somehow miraculously cured themselves because untreated syphilis will cause brain, nerve, heart damage etc, yet there wasn't a proportional deathcount of syphilis patients when the numbers say there should've been. There were actually suspiciously few deaths.

Then a few years later, early 80s at this point, a bunch of sick people came out of the woodworks and started showing up to clinics and ERs with a new set of symptoms. Gay Related Immune Deficiency. Now known as AIDS. Ground zero: San Francisco. Not an actual disease per se, but a collection of symptoms.

YOU DO THE MATH

LOL I saw this.

Do you create this stuff on a whim or is there any personal experiences behind it? Too funny man.
It depends

That was a whim because a few dudes were bored in the NBA thread.

Some others have a hint of truth to them, like getting fired from my job, I didn't get fired but my boss's son really is a pos who plays video games all day.

I've never been cheated on (that I know of), so that was complete bullshit.

Idk, I just start writing and try to make it realistic and next thing I know people are yelling at me.

....and Ja'mychal?
<{fry}>

I'm not gay, at least I don't think. I don't like to straight out say "I'm no gay", but I've never been attracted to a man.

But maybe someday, someone like @INeedARemedy could come along and that could change, who knows?

The mass spread of HIV/AIDS into the gay community in the early 80s was largely the work of a French Canadian flight attendant.

If you type into google search "french canadian flight attendant" it will auto add HIV or AIDS ---- and no other options

Lol just look at that dude. Even for the early 80s and being French Canadian he's gay af fam

@faustian @ISIS in blackface you guys gonna ride out the hurricane?
That's the plan. I live on the third floor of my building so flooding isn't an issue for me. Winds might be another story tho, I'm on a golf course so there isn't a whole lot to block a strong enough gust coming at me. And if tornados pop up then I'm pretty fucked lol

Lol had to watch that movie in human sexuality class. I think the professor said she was involved in a lot of the protests for AIDS research back in the day.

I'd get out if I were you Faust, there's still a slim chance it comes here, I might be leaving in the morning
