I can't remember the specifics because it was literally like 5 years ago when I was looking into it, but what made sense to me was the idea of HIV deriving from cases of the same person being infected with syphilis multiple times. Like you have someone, say Corona (random name), who gets syphilis and doesn't treat it. Then he goes out and has buttsex with another syphilis carrier, say Revo (random name), and contracts another strain of syphilis. This happens over and over again with new partners (Ang, Therealdope, Kaderp, Ja'Mychal, Gunt, RR, -- random names). I'm wondering if a mutation occurs at some point. There's evidence that it could. You're not putting me on the spot. This is outside of my domain of expertise. Your theory sounds like the "AIDS is caused by gay bowel disease" theory.
Are you thinking about the guy (and I forget his name) in the early 90s who challenged other immunologists on the assumption that HIV is the cause of AIDS? IIRC he was a legit immunologist and asked uncomfortable questions of other researchers.
I think that stuff has been settled. Not everyone responds to the HIV in the same way.
Here is a fun fact, they've found a new super-aggressive strain of HIV that leads to AIDS much faster than the established strains of HIV that most would be familiar with. IIRC they found it in Cuba ... just a heads up faust.
The timeline is also interesting. There was a (very) large number of confirmed syphilis cases in the mid-late 70s that went untreated. In San Francisco, specifically. These syphilis patients must've either gone on to die in obscurity or somehow miraculously cured themselves because untreated syphilis will cause brain, nerve, heart damage etc, yet there wasn't a proportional deathcount of syphilis patients when the numbers say there should've been. There were actually suspiciously few deaths.
Then a few years later, early 80s at this point, a bunch of sick people came out of the woodworks and started showing up to clinics and ERs with a new set of symptoms. Gay Related Immune Deficiency. Now known as AIDS. Ground zero: San Francisco. Not an actual disease per se, but a collection of symptoms.
YOU DO THE MATH
