So I had a tournament today. 5 games starting at 8 am. 16u ball. Mostly pretty decent teams. During the last game, I was in the field and my partner had the plate. The worst team in the tournament (they got slaughter ruled both of their games today) were playing and their coaches would not shut up the entire game (only team to complain at all, all day). At one point their pitcher threw a pitch behind the batter's back and they all starting shouting about 'where was that?' at my partner. That's when I called time and told them all to shut the fuck up. The coaches calmed down a bit, but by then their fans were all riled up. Once they had lost again (they committed 6 errors in one inning to lose by the mercy rule), we left the field and were venting a little bit to each other. A couple parents had the nerve to run up to us and try berating us then too. One great thing about being an ump, you're God on the field. We just waved the tournament official over, and calmly said right in front of these parents that if they are present tomorrow for the team's inevitable beating we're not even playing the game, it will be an automatic forfeit. The parents' jaws hit the floor when the tournament official took our side and told them they are banned from the rest of the tournament. LMAO. What did they think they were going to accomplish? Fucking redneck morons. LOL.
