Sarah Silverman interviews Bill Burr

Bill Burr is awesome and endearing because of his honesty.

You could tell by the first trick she tried to play "when you text me as im driving home - you know I love you right?" and he's like what the fuck is this bitch talking about. Lol

Sarah was trying to knock him down a few pegs, paint him as a guy with serious malfunction and cover up her 2-faced manipulation with the stock "but you know I love you and we're such good friends" card. She assumed he would play along in order to maintain civility in front of a crowd and lights like so many comedians and celebs would. She would put "their friendship" on the line and he would predictably meet her halfway in order to get those class-act points as expected.

She and her producer had previously calculated that it would get a lot of attention for her and her shitty unknown show. The brutal honesty, revealing quotes, the shockingly candid exposé! This was a hit-piece giftwrapped with an olive branch. Failproof.

Only he didn't fall for that or play along, he knew exactly what was going on. It was an ambush and he calmly called her out on it. He didn't feel bad for her show or her credibility dip because of what she was trying to do, he wasn't going to step in and graciously "save the show" in front of the audience by taking a velvet-lined character assassination bullet.

This is a tactic that's as old as a roach's balls, and several times less pleasant. This would have worked on basically everyone during the 90's when she probably pulled this asshole maneuver against every single one of her ex boyfriends. You could tell she had decades of practice, she had no idea it could even backfire. She didn't know him very well but knew that most people will act like they're your best buddy in front of other people if you declare it in front of them.

I'm glad he stood his ground and refused to sacrifice his self-respect as the "gesture of kindness" towards her trap she expected him to dive into.

The funny thing is nobody will trust her now. Good riddance
Lol Jesus, man. I'm sure it wasn't that serious.
They obviously know each other, and butt heads when they do. He talked about how she would try to rewrite his jokes for him, so they obviously have some sort of relationship, and travel in the same circles.

I love Bill and am a regular listener to his podcast. He says some funny shit, but he also will talk out of his ass, or just say some shit about women that sounds like straight up bashing, but he doesn't full on believe it, he's just talking shit. Not a lot of guys could do some of the jokes that Bill does.
He and Sarah are just not a good pairing, especially for this kind of show. They have different styles of comedy and speaking that just don't mesh at all, but I highly doubt Sarah had some sort of nefarious plot to "put Bill in his place"

lol Yikes...yea...that was not a good interview...pretty wasted opportunity actually because Bill is hilarious.
In fairness, Bill isn't an easy guy to interview. If you watch some of his other interviews, there are a lot of people that struggle to keep up with him because Bill doesn't give a fuckkkkk, so he'll just say whatever it is he's thinking.
But the way Sarah started that interview off guranteed to make it weird, because Bill isn't the kind of dude to let you shit on him, even jokingly, and not either mention it, or give you some shit back. And if you make a bad joke, lol he won't help you save yourself--he'll let it marinate for a bit. So, that was a shit interview job on her.

She comes off as a crazy harpy in that video, but it's not a good representation of how her show usually is. She has light conversations with a lot of people that she doesn't politcally agree with, and they're no where near as awkward and weird as this one was. I don't think Sarah is really a sensitive snowflake type, but you can just tell that a chick like her, and a guy like Bill wouldn't get along. lol I think Bill is a hard pill to swallow for a lot of women, to be honest.
That pairing is weird. In sherdog/ @ga_ninja term, Burr was the pepperoni pizza to Sarah's pineapple. Burr was the medium rare steak to Sarah's ketchup.

Not gonna lie I've laughed at some of her stuff and like her when I see her in tv appearances like Crashing but is seems like I should laugh alot more. Something just turns me off.

Like she told this story about shitting her pants and then having to share a car with Norm McDonald. Sounds like it should be a hilarious story right? Nope! Boring and unfunny the way she told it.

Does Bill do any good interviews?

That was painful to watch. Sarah "loves him"

Hilarious... If this is comedy today we are all fucked.

The H3 podcast was still worse. At least Silverman had an inkling of rapport with Burr.

Who's funnier than Sarah Silverman? No one.

Except dudes

Yes. She's still good looking enough to get away with her playful, judgmental girlfriend schtick. When she goes hag, it's all over.

I can picture her being the second coming of Joan Rivers.

I always find Burr's interviews pretty cringe worthy. His regular material is decently funny, but I've never found any of his off the cuff stuff to be any good.

Seemed fine to me. She was trying the push him a little further than she does in their normal relationship that is already combative. He raised the stakes a little also. Good TV.

Their lack of chemistry aside, I understand Bill's bewilderment throughout this interview - he must of felt like he was in a slightly off time warp: Silverman is literally playing a mousy-voiced poor copy of the Nia (his then girlfriend, now wife) who used to crash his MMPC with whiny shit.
And, like Nia, Silverman makes Bill look good even when he is at his worst. Awful interview.

I can't stand her. Her nostrils look like assholes

I thought it was pretty obvious the awkwardness came from the fact they are merely acquaintances and she's trying to act like they are best buddies who hang out all the time. The timing was not there like it would be if they were regulars to each other. You can't fake that and if the opposite happens where you do know each other well then you can't fake as if you don't talk all the time.

When he said she would "re-write my jokes" he wasn't talking about having her edit his jokes pre-show, he was refering to her complaining about the jokes he said and attempting to revise them after he delivered them because the subject matter made her super uncomfortable. He wasn't appreciative or asking for revision

Sarah likes anal sex so I give her props for that.

Other than that, she's useless.

silverman tried riling up burr. it worked in the beginning, and silverman caught onto that, and began revving up the insults. then burr came back at her, which kept her quiet, and that allowed burr to go onto a story, which turned into a long tangent that got a few laughs, and forced silverman to keep quiet and listen, because he was on a roll.

i guess that's how being a hollywood comedian and having your own show works. get under as many peoples' skin as you can, to get one over them and to get into the news.

I feel like Burr holds back on his real opinions and throws out the "just kiddings" to keep himself from getting ousted from the mainstream. He seems like he's a lot darker than he lets on but he knows he would never have a cartoon, television appearance, stand up special or possibly wife if he really let on what he was thinking.
