Check out this combo. It's hard to do it in bjj cuz in a match the opponent would most likely not stand that straight. But in dynamic movement or as a counter from a hip toss it might work pretty well.

This "hiptoss" is also called utsuri-goshi;

Would it be considered a slam in tournaments? If not, I'll be training this.

Right. Although Sambo has Judo roots, sambist don't use Judo names. It's a separate self sufficient martial art.

You could put up with some fancy russian names instead of just "hiptoss" or "Sambo suplex" then...;)

I don't think it would be considered a slam. What I understand by slam is lifting the opponent up from the ground position and slamming him down. Here you start on your feet. But I think it would be better to check with the rules of a Federation you are competing for.

Makes sense. But again, there will be people claiming "why not just call it "Utsuri-Goshi" or "a hip toss"? After all, no matter how you call this technique, it works.

I find most BJJ refs are either one side or the other in terms of the slam. It shouldn't be illegal, considering its just another variation of a hip throw.
