Economy Saint Louis historic site closes due to severe flooding

A recent major flood in Saint Louis has closed all businesses and historic sites in the local area. A 200 year old church (established 1819) is closed in Florissant municipality due to severe flood damage.

My sister and her family live in St Louis. Heard they haven't been flooded badly where they live thankfully.

When I saw the rainfall amounts in St. Louis my initial reaction has been to think that is a type of rainfall seen in Florida once a month or so in the rainy reason. The ground is different here I suppose, being more sandy, as it doesn't tend to flood badly after that type of rain.
