Thread title says it all. Marin had Sage in a deep arm-bar and he gutted it out. Post strep-throat Sage doesn't tap.

Healthy Sage is the GOAT.

What didn't Marin do to lock it up? It looked solid to me and I have zero knowledge of BJJ to understand what he didn't do. Same as GSP not getting it on Hardy at 111

Incredible fight. The arena exploded every time Sage got out of a submission attempt, dude showed alot of heart last night.

It was shit, he didn't squeeze his legs, his hips were non-existent and he made the most comical mistake when putting on an Armbarr. He didn't rotate the face and head away from the arm which is the most crucial part of the Armbarr for it to work.

pre-strep sage was no slouch either!

Very surprised he got the decision. Seemed easily 29-28 for Marin.

I never took time to check that.. So when armbarring a fighter you have to squeeze the legs and at the same time use them to keep the face of the opponent looking away from the armbar?

I thought Marin did not twist Sage's hand and that was the fault...

First thing I notice is his knees aren't pinched. This makes it easier for Sage to rotate his thumb down and put his elbow out of position. Sage explained that this was the defense he used. Second thing I notice is Marin's right leg is slightly outta position. Without a leg over the face/head, it sacrifices control of your opponent. It also makes transition to a triangle from the armbar a little more difficult.

Close fight...but it was not a good one, looked liked an amateur bout.

that scrub doesnt know how to armbar, or kimura for that matter. switched from hands on wrist to the armpit when it wasnt working, but doesnt even attempt to fix his position when his right leg is under the armpit instead of over the head.

fuckin amateur shit

props to sage for guttin it out. both had terrible ground work that fight.

Yes, you always need to push the face and head away with your leg it keeps control of the body and sinks it. Can't go nowhere when your head is pinned and turned the opposite way.

I was very impressed with him. The kid's got a heart of a lion.

Enrique must have had a serious boner rolling around with Sage, hence why he couldn't implement his grappling techniques properly. I wonder how he managed to resist making out with Sage. He's from Europe after all.
