So recently there has been a huge signing within the almighty (xD) promotion GLORY KICKBOXING.

They have managed to maintain the number one still active and arguably best striker to ever walk the planet of earth.

SAENCHAI!!!

He is on his way to Tristar to train with them and also will be feautred on fightpass in his upcomming GLORY debut June 25th, this cannot be a coincidence!

He is Facing a guy with a 62-1 record a guy with a similar record to Thomson who is going ham as we speak in the welterweight division.

Stephen Thomson considered a demi god in mma striking is merly a learner compared to Saenchai.
I have seen him fight with my own eyes in the most recent THAI Fight where he just mauled some Irish muay thai champion. A fight where he also fight without gloves.

Even the best strikers in the ufc would not stand a chance against fighting Saenchai on the outside, i have never seen anyone been so sucessful and actually have the fights to back it up.
He has already talked about fighting Mcgregor so enough money would convince him to take a deal.

Now he will most certainly go on a spree in Glory but could that be enough and make enough noise in the MMA community so the UFC would offer him a fight?

Will GSP be able to teach him some basic takedown defense so he wont get mounted and then RNCd?

What am I missing? Is glory on fightpass now? I hate loading my computer to watch fights through it to my TV so I never pay attention to it anymore.

If only he started earlier :(

The guy is 35, and thats like 50 in pro muay thai years.

It'll never happen. I'm a massive kickboxing and Muay Thai fan, but it will never ever happen and if it did he would just get taken down and subbed in the UFC. I'm sure he can beat low level to mid level guys (mid level especially if they're more striking based with poor grappling).. but anyone with a few years of grappling training would have no problem with him in a MMA fight.

It's just like the pointless boxer vs MMA argument. Boxer wins in boxing, MMA fighter wins in MMA

It would damage Saenchai's brand, too. He likes to talk and give quotes to the press, keep his name out there. If he went in and got taken down and subbed in 90 seconds, he would look foolish. THAT is the main reason it won't happen. Plus, no one knows who he is in the US, he's not a draw, and I doubt the UFC would book a guy with zero MMA fights that is a complete unknown (CM Punk is pretty famous in America, no one except the most hardcore fight fans know Saenchai here, I'd estimate less than 100k people can name him off the top of their head)

He's not a great "striker" as much as he is great Muay Thai fighter. Certain things that put him over in Muay Thai are not typically thought of as striking. In Muay Thai history he's perhaps the best chucker of humans, and best catch kicker, and has ridiculous genetics. I regard him as the greatest Muay Thai fighter in history, (http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/its-time-to-accept-saenchai-as-the-greatest.3151877/) but rom a pure striking standpoint there's certainly been better.

I ment more in a manner of fighting standing up.. Stand up fighter perhaps?
Striker might not be the best phrase for him

Saenchai is the definition of a fighter having fun in the ring. I doubt he'd do well in MMA though.

His setup is suited fairly well for MMA, even at an advanced age. Takedown defense from singles and doubles could be an issue, and probably would be tough for him to learn a lot off his back. Clinched up however, not many fighters would be able to do much to him. His base is ridiculous and his throws, trips and turns are something else. Could be scary on top.

Saencahi in kickboxing rules can suck it

Saenchai in MMA can suck it.

Love Saenchai, but he should stick to pure striking/Muay Thai. I don't want to see him submitted by a mid-level UFC grappler.

Saenchai is the king of the ring. I can't wait to see him in Glory, but I hope he takes it seriously and doesn't just try to play around with his opponents as he likes to do because it could end badly for him. I think he often takes the pay check and likes to put on a show, win or lose, but I wan't to see him go all out in Glory.

I would be interested to see him in MMA against some striker based guys just out of curiosity, but against any decent grapplers he would be taken down and submitted of course. Something tells me that at his age and with his fame as a Muay Thai fighter he would not invest himself 100% in learning the grappling arts as would be necessary to compete at a high level in MMA.

i ment him having maybe 1-2 super fights, not starting a career in mma at his age that would be unreasonable
