Ryota Murata (14-1, 11 KOs), 32, of Japan, who is due to defend his secondary middleweight belt for the second time in the main event of a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+ card on Oct. 20, probably at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, could will face Golden Boy Promotions’ up-and-comer Jason Quigley, both promoters told ESPN. Murata owes a mandatory defense to Rob Brant (23-1, 16 KOs), 27, of St. Paul, Minnesota, but it’s possible Murata can get an exception to face Quigley (14-0, 11 KOs), 27, of Ireland, first with the Brant fight coming after that if he wins, likely in Japan. On April 15, Murata knocked out Emanuele Blandamura in the eighth round in Japan in his first title defense. Quigley returned from a year layoff because of a hand injury on March 31 and knocked out Daniel Rosario on a Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN card.
